Modern metal progressives Trivium have delivered their new EP, Struck Dead. The three-track, self-produced effort was recorded with Mark Lewis at Trivium's Hangar Studios in Orlando, Florida with a final mix from veteran producer and collaboator, Josh Wilbur.
The arrival of the Struck Dead EP signals the beginning of the band's latest iteration, one that fully explores the capabilities of the band's own headquarters in their home of Orlando, FL. The band's Paul Gregoletto explains how the release of new music in the form a three track EP resulted organically from their new creative space.
"In 2023, we decided it was finally time to take the next step with The Hangar space we purchased — it was time to turn it into a full studio," says Gregoletto.
"We brought in designer Roger D'Arcy, thanks to an introduction from Mark Lewis, and set out on a year-long build. While construction was underway, we were deep in rehearsals for The Poisoned Ascendancy Tour, celebrating Ascendancy's 20th anniversary.
What started as an idea to release one single during the tour quickly grew into two, then three, as we kept writing while we were waiting for the build-out to be completed."
Among those new tracks included the EP's lead single, "Bury Me With My Screams". Underscoring the band's continuously evolving songwriting prowess, combined with the metallic horsepower that has always been core to the band's sound, Struck Dead marks an important new chapter in the story and legacy of Trivium.
Coinciding with the arrival of the Struck Dead EP, Trivium have submitted a commanding new music video that emphasizes the visceral experience of the band's live execution. Technically precise, emotionally-charged and effectively executed with obvious expertise, "Struck Dead" is Trivium at a new height.
Coupled with the arrival of the EP, Trivium will set out on The Ascend Above the Ashes headlining tour with special guests Jinjer and Heriot. Beginning Halloween night in Myrtle Beach, SC the tour stretches through December 14th where the run concludes with a hometown set in Orlando, FL.
