Set to debut their next installment of musical extremity on February 21st with the arrival of their GOLD EP, the collective of SCOUR have issued a short documentary looking back on the band's genesis and their progress as a unit thus far.

History of, pools interview footage from the individual members of the band in Philip H. Anselmo, Derek Engemann, John Jarvis, Mark Kloeppel also of Misery Index, and Adam Jarvis of Pig Destroyer and Lock Up, to revisit their start in the project and some of the highlights of the first decade of the passion project.

The footage was compiled from a shoot at Anselmo’s own Nodferatu’s Lair by Mike Holderbeast as part of the band’s “Live From The Lair” live stream. Purposing the discussion to better tell the story of SCOUR, the film lands as the band is just days from the release of their next EP.

SCOUR's own Mark Kloeppel provided some context to the film and how it offers a unique segue into the band's next EP release.

“Some years ago, before I was in the band, I wrote a column for Decibel Magazine on SCOUR’s unseeming roots in St. Louis, Missouri called ‘Gateways To Annihilation.’ Four of the five members of SCOUR originate from St. Louis. John and Adam were in a band called All Will Fall and Derek and I were in a band called Cast The Stone in the early 2000s. We all met in venues like The Creepy Crawl, Pop's in Sauget, The Hi-Pointe, etc. We kept in contact throughout the years, and through our journeys in various higher-level bands.

Kloeppel continued, “Around 2012/2013, Philip organically found Adam and John’s side project, Fulgora, through an online blog. That turned into them meeting up and recording at Philip’s personal studio, Nodferatu's Lair. Around 2014/2015, Derek and John started SCOUR as a fun studio project while John was tour managing a band Derek was in. They sent the music to Philip to see if we would do vocals, and he said he would ‘kill it!’ The guys recruited Adam Jarvis on drums for the Red EP, and shortly after the EP came out in 2017, I was tapped to join the band on lead guitar… and here we are.

Sourcing elements from black metal, grind, punk, and thrash, SCOUR's indiviual resumes and collective education ensures their knowledge and resource pool in extreme music is infinite. Applying that wealth of knowledge and passion for the heaviest of music, combined with an affinity for the darker side of the literary spectrum, SCOUR's source material is fully realized as they complete their EP trilogy with their latest opus, GOLD.
