Pioneering deathcore unit Whitechapel have announced their next full length studio effort via Metal Blade Records with the news of the March 7th release of Hymns In Dissonance. The news follows a productive stretch for the band which saw them supporting on the entirely sold out Lorna Shore tour last fall as well as the initial preview of their next chapter with the drop of their drubbing first track, "A Visceral Retch". 

Just last month, Whitechapel confirmed the Hymns In Dissonance tour with Brand of Sacrifice, 200 Stab Wounds and Alluvial. Now, the Tennessee veterans have positioned the final piece in the puzzle, bringing the full scope of the next phase into focus - confirming the new album and debuting the devastating title track. 

“There is nothing nice about Hymns In Dissonance, from the riffs, to the lyrics, to the overall vibe of the album,” says guitarist Alex Wade of the project. “We attempted to write our heaviest album to date. We wanted to put out something that was shockingly menacing and brutal.”

The guitarist goes onto the detail the sinister subplot that comes to horrifying life on the record. “The album follows the story of a cultist who is gathering worthy people to join his cult,” Wade explains, “and there are moments in the storyline where the cult followers are singing an evil hymn to open a portal for the head cultist to enter.”

Contrasting the serenity of a hymn with the controlled chaos that has defined the Whitechapel sound, the latest album is an exercise in artistry that challenges the boundaries of extreme music. Frontman Phil Bozeman explains, “Hymns In Dissonance is a mockery of the true nature of what hymns are. Hymns are melodious and harmonious. Dissonance is the opposite of melody and harmony. Dissonance represents evil. The tracks on the record are the hymns, which represent the seven deadly sins, beginning from track three to track ten. Tracks one and two are the introduction.”

In support of the new album, Whitechapel will head The Hymns In Dissonance Tour. Topping a dynamic bill loaded with some of extreme music's most impactful, young contributors, the bill features Brand of Sacrifice, death metal champs 200 Stab Wounds and standouts Alluvial and begins just after the release of the album.
