Marking ten years since it's release and subsequent breakout as a result, heavy music nonconformists Zeal & Ardor, led by innovator Manuel Gagneux, have issued a powerful reimagining of the title track to the acclaimed 2016 LP, Devil IS Fine. Aligning with French darksynth specialist Franck Hueso, better known as Capenter Brut, the tandem forces have converged to debut a brilliant, bold take on the pivotal track.
Sourcing the foreboding gospel of Gagneux's vocals, Carpenter Brut ups the octane in the second half of the track with a pulsing electronic cadence that takes "Devil Is Fine" to epic new heights.
Gagneux shared of the single, "Imagine if one of the most capable electronic musicians out there remixed a song of ours. Imagine if that would result in a track that might eclipse the original. Imagine if you could listen to such a thing right now. We give you 'Devil Is Fine x Carpenter Brut.'"
Carpenter Brut also weighed in on the collaboration. "Zeal & Ardor have such a distinctive sound so it was a real pleasure to take 'Devil Is Fine' into my own world while keeping the spirit of the original."
The arrival of "Devil Is Fine X Carpenter Brut" follows he recent release of Devil Is Fine X, a remastered reissue of their 2016 debut which boasts five previously unreleased bonus tracks. Zeal & Ardor's most recent studio album, GREIF, continues to garner acclaim.
As for Carpenter Brut, 2026 saw the reveal of Leather Temple, the third and final chapter of his Leather trilogy. The album arrived via No Quarter Prod/Virgin Records, and has seen a slew of live dates internationally in support.
