The Wrath Across North America tour pulled into the RIverside Municipal Auditorium to commence what has been regarded among metal fanatics as one of the most stacked touring bills of the season.
Earning top billing, the reconfigured, reinvigorated line-up of Arch Enemy with Lauren Hart on vocals submitted a live presentation that suggests the band is at their most effective decades into their tenure.
Reaching deep into their trove of metallic anthems, the opening steamroll of "The World Is Yours" proved both empowering and eviscerating. Hart's commend on the microphone asserts both range and roar. Doubling down, Arch Enemy revisited their Wages of Sin era with a soaring rendition of "Ravenous" that emphasized the band's unofficial mantra of "Pure Fucking Metal".
And while the classics earned some of the biggest pops of the evening, the band's most recent offensive and Hart's recorded vocal introduction in "To the Last Breath" proved a highlight on the night. The effective combination of Michael Amott on guitars and Hart leading the charge on the microphone offered emphatic proof of Arch Enemy's endurance and auspicious start of their next chapter.
Detonating the auditorium with essentials like "War Eternal" and "Nemesis," Arch Enemy played to the fans while ensuring they did not need to rely on nostalgia to score a win.
