Full Bloom: The Devil Wears Prada Earn Their Flowers With A Memorable SoCal Set

Full Bloom: The Devil Wears Prada Earn Their Flowers With A Memorable SoCal Set

- By Ramon Gonzales -->

The spring trek featured cuts from the band's ninth full length, Flowers, and featured supporting sets from Four Year Strong, Split Chain and I Promised the World.

On the road in support of their acclaimed 2025 release, Flowers, metalcore progressives The Devil Wears Prada presided over a packed house at Riverside's Municipal Auditorium over the weekend. Along with a support roster showcasing a broad range of rock heavy energy, the bill was rounded out by sets from Four Year Strong, Split Chain and I Promised The World for an evening that more than met the expectations leafing into the date.

Armed with a cache of cuts from their latest full length, tracks like "Where the Flowers Grow," "Everybody Knows" and "When You're Gone" landed with maximum efficiency, energizing the fans in much the same way long established favorites did in what amounted to a seamless set.

Ensuring the veteran TDWP fans had plenty of reason to beam, the set also revisited some of the band's long-tenured favorites with tracks like "Dogs Can Grow Beards All Over" and "Dez Moines" jettisoning the auditorium back to the more heavy-handed, harsh vocal explosiveness that first propelled the band to such great heights.

Closing their first act with a pair of anthems in "Chemical" and "Sacrifice" from the band's modern, post-pandemic era, the evolution of The Devil Wears Prada was on full display with a pair of singles that still harnessed the same potency that has long been a hallmark of the band - only now with a evident sense of melodic, methodic songwriting. As the night played out, the story in the set was how The Devil Wears Prada has clearly found a balance of never forgetting who they were, while continuing to pursue all they can still be.

Doing a healthy bit of reminiscing for their encore, it seemed a little tongue-in-check that the band began their second, shorter act with the reflective, "Play the Old Shit," before proceeding to in fact, play the old shit. Closing the nignt with "Assistant to the Regional Manager" and "Hey John, What's Your Name Again?" the band displayed their ability to take what they do seriously, without taking themselves too seriously and indulging the fans before the curtain closed.

Flowers earned.
