Among the leaders of the new era of symphonic deathcore, Lorna Shore's Southern California arrival on their headlining North American trek played out as more of a coronation than a concert. Out in support of their most recent opus, I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me via Century Media Records, the Jersey unit unleashed a walloping set of modern classics that have come to define the contemporary wave of extreme music and progressive deathcore.
Blowing the roof off the sold out Riverside Municipal Auditorium, Lorna's introduction set out to level the room with "Oblivion" and the top-of-the-mountain granduer of "Unbreakable," the band was rightfully assuming their place at the head of table. Showcasing razorsharp precision with the kind of sonic punishment that required a collective exhale after each song, tracks like "Sun//Eater" and "Into the Earth" towered climax and crashed with crescendo.
Reserving their most effective entries for the final segment of the show, the anthemic "To the Hellfire" lay waste to the capacity crowd, only for Lorna to reemerge for an encore that concluded with final act of Pain Remains - unleashing the trio of title tracks that made one of extreme music's most ambitious, assaultive sagas.
For Lorna Shore, the era of I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me is less taking part and far more about a complete takeover. See the gallery of images recapping the evening below. Remaining dates can be found following the gallery.
