Damien Leone's gruesome and depraved slasher series Terrifier is one of the best success stories of the horror genre. What started as a simple enough concept for a scary movie villain - a silent, killer clown - turned into DIY, low budget films All Hallows' Eve and the first Terrifier. They quickly became underground favorites.
Last year, Art the Clown returned in Terrifier 2. Any and all horror fans know him now. The film, made for well under even one million dollars, exploded at the box office to the tune of $15 million and turned Art into a (kinda) new cultural sensation. He's certainly become a popular Halloween and convention costume.
Another film was a no-brainer, but with the series having reached a sort of peak with its outrageous violence and feature-length ambitions with Terrifier 2, how can Leone possibly up the ante for fans once again? The answer is apparently making Terrifier 3 a Christmas movie.
Yes, the next chapter of Art's jaw-dropping murder spree is set during the chilly holiday season, and not only features the return of star David Howard Thornton, but Lauren LaVera and Elliot Fullam as survivor siblings Sienna and Jonathan Shaw as well. Samantha Scaffidi's will also be reprising her role as Victoria Hayes.
Terrifier 3 is set to be released in theaters October 25th 2024. Details on the plot are scarce, but it looks like Sienna will be gearing up for a second battle against the unholy clown. Check out the teaser trailer below.
