Coming Attractions: Movies to Look Forward to in January 2025

Horror and thrillers kick off the new year as plenty of originals hit the big screen and streaming this month. 

‘Den of Thieves 2: Pantera’ January 10th (Theaters)

Gerard Butler and O’Shea Jackson Jr. return in the sequel to 2018’s action-heist hit Den of Thieves. In Den of Thieves: Pantera, Big Nick (Butler) is back on the hunt in Europe and closing in on Donnie (Jackson), who is embroiled in the treacherous and unpredictable world of diamond thieves and the infamous Panther mafia, as they plot a massive heist of the world’s largest diamond exchange. 

‘Get Away’ January 10th (Shudder)

In this delightful horror thriller starring Nick Frost, a family's vacation to a remote getaway takes an unexpected turn when they discover the island they're on is inhabited by a serial killer.

‘Wolf Man’ January 17th (Theaters)

Christopher Abbott stars as Blake, a San Francisco husband and father, who inherits his remote childhood home in rural Oregon after his own father vanishes and is presumed dead. With his marriage to his high-powered wife, Charlotte (Julia Garner), fraying, Blake persuades Charlotte to take a break from the city and visit the property with their young daughter, Ginger (Matlida Firth). But as the family approaches the farmhouse in the dead of night, they’re attacked by an unseen animal and, in a desperate escape, barricade themselves inside the home as the creature prowls the perimeter. As the night stretches on, however, Blake begins to behave strangely, transforming into something unrecognizable, and Charlotte will be forced to decide whether the terror within their house is more lethal than the danger without.

‘Flight Risk’ January 24th (Theaters)

In this high-stakes suspense thriller, Mark Wahlberg plays a pilot transporting an Air Marshal (Michelle Dockery) accompanying a fugitive (Topher Grace) to trial. As they cross the Alaskan wilderness, tensions soar and trust is tested, as not everyone on board is who they seem.

‘Presence’ January 24th (Theaters)

In this film from Steven Soderbergh, a family moves into a suburban house and becomes convinced they're not alone. This slow-burning spectral thriller is told entirely from a perspective of a ghost, making for a truly ethereal cinematic experience.

‘Star Trek: Section 31’ January 24th (Paramount+)

In this new original movie, Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh reprises her Star Trek: Discovery role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou, who joins a secret division of Starfleet. Tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets, she also must face the sins of her past.

‘Inheritance’ January 24th (Theaters)

From director Neil Burger (Divergent, The Illusionist), Inheritance follows Maya (Phoebe Dynevor), who learns her father was once a spy. Suddenly, she finds herself at the center of an international conspiracy.

‘Screamboat’ January 24th (Theaters)

A mischievous mouse stalks a group of New Yorkers on a late night ferry ride, unleashing murderous mayhem on a relaxing commute. Can the ship’s motley crew of travelers find a way to stop a killer creature who has developed a taste for tourists?

‘Grafted’ January 24th (Shudder)

A woman escaping sex trafficking is forced to join up with a brutal thug running from his own demons when they get caught in the middle of a violent gang war in London. In order to survive they'll have to do something neither are prepared for: trust each other.

‘Dark Match’ January 31st (Shudder)

In this horror flick starring Chris Jericho, small-time wrestling company accepts a well-paying gig in a backwoods town only to learn, too late, that the community is run by a mysterious cult leader with devious plans for their match.
