Coming Attractions: Movies to Look Forward to in October 2024

Horror is on the menu this month as Art the Clown and Joker return to theaters, a new Stephen King adaptation hits Max, and much more across the movie scene this October

‘Salem’s Lot’ October 3rd (Max)

Based on one of Stephen King's earliest works, this new adaptation of Salem's Lot is hitting streaming to kick off October from director Gary Dauberman (Annabelle Comes Home). When author Ben Mears (Lewis Pullman) comes back to his childhood home in search for some inspiration for his next book, he discovers that people in his home town are mysteriously turning into blood-sucking vampires.

'V/H/S/Beyond' October 4th (Shudder)

From directors Kate Siegel, Justin Martinez, Jay Cheel, Justin Long, Christian Long, Jordan Downey, and Virat Pal, six bloodcurdling tapes unleash horror in a sci-fi-inspired hellscape, pushing the boundaries of fear and suspense. This latest addition to the horror gem that is the V/H/S found footage franchise is sure to deliver new nightmares and a ton of gory fun.

‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ October 4th (Theaters)

The highly-awaited sequel to the 2019 hit film, Joker: Folie À Deux finds Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) institutionalized at Arkham awaiting trial for his crimes as Joker. While struggling with his dual identity, Arthur not only stumbles upon true love in the form of Harley Quinn (Lady Gaga), but also finds the music that's always been inside him.

‘Terrifier 3’ October 11th (Theaters)

Joker's not the only clown stabbing his way into theaters this month. In this third entry to the indie horror phenomenon, Sienna (Lauren LaVera) and her brother (Elliot Fullam) are struggling to rebuild their shattered lives. As the holiday season approaches, they try to embrace the Christmas spirit and leave the horrors of the past behind. But just when they think they're safe, Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton) returns, determined to turn their holiday cheer into a new nightmare. The festive season quickly unravels as Art unleashes his twisted brand of terror, proving that no holiday is safe.

‘The Apprentice’ October 11th (Theaters)

A young Donald Trump (Sebastian Stan), eager to make his name as a hungry second son of a wealthy family in 1970s New York, comes under the spell of Roy Cohn (Jeremy Strong), the cutthroat attorney who would help create the Donald Trump we know today. Cohn sees in Trump the perfect protégé—someone with raw ambition, a hunger for success, and a willingness to do whatever it takes to win.

‘Saturday Night’ October 11th (Theaters)

‘Smile 2’ October 18th (Theaters)

About to embark on a new world tour, global pop sensation Skye Riley (Naomi Scott) begins experiencing increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events. Overwhelmed by the escalating horrors and the pressures of fame, Skye is forced to face her dark past to regain control of her life before it spirals out of control. This follow-up to Parker Finn's stunning and terrifying debut sees the writer / director returning for a new nightmare of fresh smiles.

‘Rumours’ October 18th (Theaters)

Ricocheting between comedy, apocalyptic horror, and swooning soap opera, Rumours follows the seven leaders of the world’s wealthiest democracies at the annual G7 summit, where they attempt to draft a provisional statement regarding a global crisis. With unexpected, uproarious performances from a brilliant ensemble cast that includes Cate Blanchett, Alicia Vikander, and Charles Dance, these so-called leaders become spectacles of incompetence, contending with increasingly surreal obstacles in the misty woods as night falls and they realize they are suddenly alone.

‘Venom: The Last Dance’ October 25th (Theaters)

In Venom: The Last Dance, Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel’s greatest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie's last dance.

‘Your Monster’ October 25th (Theaters)

After her life falls apart, soft-spoken actor Laura Franco (Melissa Barrera) finds her voice again when she meets a terrifying, yet weirdly charming Monster (Tommy Dewey) living in her closet. Directed by Caroline Lindy, this is a new and original romantic-comedy-horror film about falling in love with your inner rage.
