The blood-splattered franchise is finally back and headed to the big screen this May

After more than a decade of silence, Final Destination is back, and Death hasn’t lost its touch. The first teaser for Final Destination: Bloodlines has arrived, giving fans a chilling preview of what’s to come when the long-running horror franchise returns to theaters on May 16.

The sixth installment in the series, Bloodlines introduces a fresh cast of characters while seemingly diving deeper into the origins of Death’s ominous, unseen force. The story follows a college student named Stefanie (Kaitlyn Santa Juana), who is haunted by violent recurring nightmares. When the terrifying visions start creeping into reality, she returns home to uncover a long-buried family secret that might hold the key to stopping Death’s relentless pursuit.

Directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, Bloodlines boasts a cast that includes Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Rya Kihlstedt, Anna Lore, and Brec Bassinger. Horror icon Tony Todd also makes a posthumous appearance, reprising his role as the enigmatic William Bludworth - a longtime fixture in the franchise known for his cryptic warnings about Death’s inescapable design.

While details about the film’s larger mythology remain under wraps, the teaser offers a glimpse of the elaborate, tension-filled death sequences that have become Final Destination’s calling card. The franchise has always thrived on transforming everyday scenarios into fatal Rube Goldberg-like nightmares, and Bloodlines looks to be carrying on that gruesome tradition.

Since its debut in 2000, Final Destination has carved out a unique space in the horror genre, with each entry centering on a group of people who narrowly escape a catastrophic event - only to find themselves hunted down by Death itself in increasingly inventive and horrific ways. With Bloodlines, the series aims to both honor that legacy and push it into new, terrifying territory.

Fans won’t have to wait long to see how it all plays out. Final Destination: Bloodlines arrives exclusively in theaters on May 16.
