The film, released in tandem with Universal Pictures, Miramax, and Blumhouse pays tribute to the origins of the horror mainstay by embracing all of the thrills and chills of the 1978 edition - packaged into a contemporary version that resonates well in appealing to new fans while satisfying the horror purists. In much the same way, Carpenter balances his creative integrity while preserving the film's unmistakable identity in a soundtrack that is fundamentally John Carpenter.

Back in 2018, the composer responsible for making the coverall-clad Michael Myers a fixture in slasher movie culture made his return to the franchise - his first since thee 1982 installment Halloween III: Season of the Witch. The result in the David Gordon Green homage with the reboot of Halloween set records at the box office, becoming the highest-grossing version of the franchise and setting setting the mark for the biggest opening weekend in history for a horror film starring a woman - Jamie Lee Curtis.

Produced by Malek Akkad, Jason Blum, and Bill Block, written by Scott Teems, Danny McBride, and David Gordon Green based on characters created by John Carpenter and Debra Hill, the film's ethos is firmly in tact with the kind of personnel that are honoring the legacy of the story - not trying to reformulate it. In that same spirit, the music remains such an integral part for the experience and having a master like Carpenter at the helm is especially exciting.

The original motion picture soundtrack for Halloween Kills arrives in a variety of vinyl variants on October 15th via Sacred Bones Records. Pre-orders are currently available - HERE. Stream the first offering from the album in "Unkillable" below.

31 Days of Horror (2024 Edition)

(Written by Dustin Meadows) October is here again, and that means the official beginning of spooky season. Even for those of us who celebrate spooky season year round, it’s a great excuse to watch a horror movie every day of the month (and every day the rest of the year as well), and sometimes it can be hard to make selections when we’re inundated with so many options in our own collections and an overwhelming amount of options on various streaming services. So I’ve dug deep into my own personal preferences to give you some daily theme prompts to help...
