Screen Crusades: Weekly Streaming Guide 10.6.23

Brand new horror movies hit streaming this week to launch October off in just the right way.


‘V/H/S/85’ (Shudder)

V/H/S/85 takes viewers on a journey into the grim underbelly of the forgotten 1980s. Unveiled through a made-for-TV documentary, five chilling tales emerge: scientists observe an unusual boy fixated on his TV, kids embark on a lake skiing adventure, a TV crew fights to survive a natural disaster, the early days of VR awaken something terrifying, and a deadly dream is captured on tape. Sinister secrets of the 1980s come to life in a way you’ve never seen before.

‘Totally Killer’ (Prime Video)

Thirty-five years after the shocking murders of three teens, an infamous killer returns on Halloween night to claim a fourth victim. When 17-year-old Jamie (Kiernan Shipka) comes face-to-face with the masked maniac, she accidentally time-travels back to 1987. Forced to navigate the unfamiliar culture, Jamie teams up with her teenage mother (Olivia Holt) to take down the psycho once and for all.

‘Pet Sematary: Bloodlines’ (Paramount+)

In 1969, a young Jud Crandall is set to leave his hometown of Ludlow, Maine in search of his life’s purpose. Before he makes it out, however, Jud and his childhood friends encounter an ancient evil that has gripped Ludlow since its founding.

‘Loki (Season 2)’ (Disney+)

Loki, working with Mobius M. Mobius, Hunter B-15, and other members of the Time Variance Authority, navigates the multiverse in order to find Sylvie, Ravonna Renslayer, and Miss Minutes.

‘Lupin (Part 3)’ (Netflix)

Now in hiding, Assane must learn to live far from his wife and son. With the suffering they endure because of him, Assane can't stand it any longer and decides to return to Paris to make them a crazy proposal: leave France and start a new life elsewhere. But the ghosts of the past are never far away, and an unexpected return will turn his plans upside down.

‘Our Flag Means Death (Season 2)’ (Max)

Stede Bonnet is determined to find his former lover, Captain Blackbeard, as he narrates his misadventures and expresses his love for him. Captain Blackbeard, consumed by heartbreak, reverts back to his violent ways, leading to a toxic atmosphere on the ship and an awkward breakup with Stede.

‘Fair Play’ (Netflix)

An unexpected promotion at a cutthroat hedge fund pushes a young couple's relationship to the brink, threatening to unravel far more than their recent engagement.

‘The Boogeyman’ (Hulu)

High school student Sadie Harper and her younger sister Sawyer are reeling from the recent death of their mother and aren’t getting much support from their father, Will, a therapist who is dealing with his own pain. When a desperate patient unexpectedly shows up at their home seeking help, he leaves behind a terrifying supernatural entity that preys on families and feeds on the suffering of its victims.


‘Meg 2: The Trench’ (Max)

Jonas Taylor leads a research team on an exploratory dive into the deepest depths of the ocean. Their voyage spirals into chaos when a malevolent mining operation threatens their mission and forces them into a high-stakes battle for survival. ‘Haunted Mansion’ (Disney+)

A woman and her son enlist a motley crew of so-called spiritual experts to help rid their home of supernatural squatters.

‘Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War (Season 2)’

The final conflict between the Soul Reapers and the Quincies begins as Ywach and his army invade the Soul Society once more. Ichigo Kurosaki and his friends race to complete their training with the Royal Guard in time to help before their allies are overwhelmed. All episodes are now streaming.

‘Only Murders in the Building (Season 3)’ (Hulu)

Charles, Oliver & Mabel investigate a murder behind the scenes at a Broadway show. Starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, Selena Gomez, Paul Rudd & Meryl Streep. All episodes are now streaming.

‘Invasion (Season 2)’ (Apple TV+)

Invasion is a sweeping, character-driven science fiction drama series that follows an alien invasion through different perspectives around the world. The action-packed second season picks up just months later with the aliens escalating their attacks in an all out war against the humans. The first seven episodes are now streaming.

‘Star Wars: Ahsoka’ (Disney+)

Former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy. All episodes are now streaming.

‘Archer (Season 14)’ (Hulu)

Archer is an animated, half-hour comedy that follows Sterling Archer as he navigates the changing landscape of the spy world. In the final season, Archer and The Agency are finding their own way with Lana at the helm. Her goal is to make money while also making the world a better place, but she quickly finds out running a spy agency isn’t so cut and dry. The first seven episodes are now streaming with the finale arriving next week.

‘The Wheel of Time (Season 2)’ (Prime Video)

The lives of five young villagers change forever when a strange and powerful woman arrives, claiming one of them is the child of an ancient prophecy with the power to tip the balance between Light and Dark forever. They must choose whether to trust this stranger – and each other – with the fate of the world before the Dark One breaks out of His prison, and the Last Battle begins. ‘The Changeling’ (Apple TV+)

Set in an alternate New York City, a father and husband (LaKeith Stanfield) searches through a magical world for his abducted son and missing wife. The first seven episodes are now steaming with the finale arriving next week.

‘American Horror Story: Delicate’ (Hulu)

In American Horror Story: Delicate, after multiple failed attempts of IVF, actress Anna Victoria Alcott wants nothing more than to start a family.
