Netflix to Celebrate Halloween with 'Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities'

Eight episodes of new original terror from a variety of celebrated horror filmmakers is something to cheer for

Guillermo del Toro has always imbued his stories of fantasy with prominent elements of horror. The filmmaker holds an obvious love for the genre and all of its macabre flourishes and challenging themes. Now, he’s ready to share his passion with audiences once again with a horror anthology series coming to Netflix this Halloween. The series will debut on October 25th in a unique release model for the streaming service, launching a special four day, double episode Netflix & Chills Halloween event. Two all-new Cabinet of Curiosities tales will debut daily through Friday, October 28,

Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities will explore all things creepy, gruesome, gothic, grotesque, and more throughout its eight episodes – each one a brand new original tale. While del Toro will contribute two stories for the series, the rest will be covered by a group of exceptional writers and directors handpicked by the filmmaker himself.

Panos Cosmatos (Mandy) will direct a segment titled The Viewing. David Prior (The Empty Man) will direct The Autopsy. Vincenzo Natali (Splice) will direct Graveyard Rats and Jennifer Kent (The Babadook) will direct The Murmuring. Keith Thomas (The Vigil) will direct Pickman's Model and Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight) will direct Dreams in the Witchhouse. Guillermo Navaro (Narcos) will direct Lot 36 and Ana Lily Amirpour (A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night) will direct The Outside. All are confirmed to take part in the anthology series with their own styles and ideas, ensuring each episode feels distinctively different.

The various actors making up the cast are also an impressive bunch. Essie Davis, Luke Roberts, Andrew Lincoln, F. Murray Abraham, Glynn Turman, Ben Barnes, Elpidia Carrillo, Hannah Galway, Crispin Glover, Rupert Grint, Demetrius Grosse, David Hewlett, Tim Blake Nelson, Sebastian Roché, Peter Weller, Eric André, Sofia Boutella, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Kate Micucci and Charlyne Yi are all set to star in the series.
