‘The Unforgivable’ (Netflix)
Directed by German filmmaker Nora Fingscheidt, The Unforgivable stars Sandra Bullock as Ruth Slater, a woman released from prison after serving a sentence for a violent crime. Ruth attempts to re-enter society and must try to put her life back together again in a world that refuses to forgive her past. The film also stars Vincent D’Onofrio, Jon Bernthal, and Viola Davis.
‘Screams of a Winter Night’ (Shudder)
Campers swap stories of lake monsters, wind demons and other atrocities while vacationing at a wilderness cabin in this 1979 horror anthology. The seasonal scares found in the film have helped keep it as a low-budget cult favorite.
‘Death Valley’ (Shudder)
From writer / director Matthew Nimaber, Death Valley is a bloody creature feature with impressive effects. Mercenaries with nothing to lose are hired to rescue a bioengineer imprisoned in a cold war bunker. Upon entering the ominous facility, they find themselves in a fight for their lives when they come under attack from an unknown and deadly creature.
‘The Slow Hustle’ (HBO Max)
From Sonja Sohn (Baltimore Rising), this documentary sparks new questions about corruption within the Baltimore Police Department. After Baltimore Police Detective Sean Suiter is killed in the line of duty, the tragedy soon becomes enmeshed in a widening corruption scandal that threatens to unravel the public's already strained relationship with law enforcement.
‘Welcome to Earth’ (Disney+)
Named after the immortal line that Will Smith delivers after punching an alien in the face in Independence Day, this six-episode National Geographic series follows Smith as he adventures around the globe. He travels to the extreme ends of the planet from active volcanoes to the deep ocean and more.
‘Spider Baby’ (Shudder)
Legendary cult filmmaker Jack Hill is at his trashy and bizarre best with 1967’s Spider Baby, a black comedy with a large helping of horror about a family descending into cannibalism. Chauffeur Bruno (Lon Chaney Jr.) looks after three strange siblings at their family estate. Ralph (Sid Haig), Virginia (Jill Banner) and Elizabeth (Beverly Washburn) all suffer from an inherited condition: a genetic disorder that causes a reversal in mental age and results in a crazed, childlike disposition. Because of his affection for the family, Bruno covers up the siblings' bizarre behavior and crimes. But, when relatives arrive at the family estate, the truth is bound to come out.
‘Saturday Morning All Star Hits!’ (Netflix)
Kyle Mooney has been one of the most underrated players in the SNL cast for years, filling the digital void that Andy Samberg and the rest of The Lonely Island left behind after exiting the show. His offbeat sense of humor and love for more obscure facets of pop culture have now formed to make Saturday Morning All Star Hits!, a hybrid of live-action and animation that celebrates 80s and 90s television is absurdly funny ways.
‘Switchblade Sisters’ (Shudder)
Another classic exploitation flick from Jack Hill, 1975’s Switchblade Sisters has continued to get recognition from fans and prominent filmmakers like Quentin Tarantino, who has named the film as one of his favorites. It follows the leader (Robbie Lee) of an all-girl gang who feels threatened by a tough new member (Joanne Nail) who moves into the neighborhood.
‘Two’ (Netflix)
Directed by Mar Targarona, this Spanish horror thriller has a simple, Human Centipede-esque premise: Two strangers (Pablo Derqui & Marina Gatell) wake up naked together to find themselves connected at the abdomen. They have no recollection of how they got to the mysterious room they find themselves in and are growing increasingly suspicious of each other. They must connect the dots to find out how to get out of their new hell.
‘Hail to the Deadites’ (Shudder)
Inspired by the 1981 classic's cult following, Hail to the Deadites is a documentary about the fans of the Evil Dead franchise. Through interviews with the cast, crew, collectors, fans, freaks and geeks, the film seeks to illuminate the darkest reaches of the franchise's undying and still-growing popularity, a popularity that has spawned four films, a TV series, comic books, figurines, and surpassed even its creator's wildest dreams.

‘Succession’ (HBO Max)
HBO has knocked it out of the park once again with Succession, a show that tracks the lives of the Roy family as they contemplate their future once their aging father (Brian Cox) begins to step back from the media and entertainment conglomerate they control. The first two seasons of the series quickly garnered praise for being one of the best new shows on television and has been showered with awards. The third miraculously looks like it’s only getting better as the Roys continue to vie for their father’s assets. The first eight episodes of the new season are now streaming.
‘Hawkeye’ (Disney+)
Former Avenger Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. Possible? Maybe with the help of Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a superhero. The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton’s past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit. The first four episodes are now streaming.
