‘Jungle Cruise’ (Disney+ Premier Access)
Aiming to launch another adventure franchise on the level of success of Pirates of the Caribbean, Disney's Jungle Cruise is the latest film based on one of their theme park attractions. Dwayne Johnson stars as a riverboat captain charged with transporting a scientist (Emily Blunt) and her brother (Jack Whitehall) through the dangerous jungle on a quest for a mystical tree believed to have healing powers. It promises to be an action-packed ride for audiences of all ages.
‘The Boy Behind the Door’ (Shudder)
A night of unimaginable terror awaits twelve-year-old Bobby (Lonnie Chavis) and his best friend, Kevin (Ezra Dewey), when they are abducted on their way home from school. Managing to escape his confines, Bobby navigates the dark halls, praying his presence goes unnoticed as he avoids his captor at every turn. With no means of calling for help and miles of dark country in every direction, Bobby embarks on a rescue mission, determined to get himself and Kevin out alive… or die trying. The Boy Behind the Door is appropriately terrifying and extremely tense.
‘Freaky’ (HBO Max)
Christopher Landon gave the time loop premise a makeover with his blend of horror and comedy in his Happy Death Day films, and his latest movie, Freaky, does the same for the body swap genre. It follows teenage Millie Kessler (Kathryn Newton) as she navigates the perils of high school while also accidentally switching bodies with an aging serial killer known as the Blissfield Butcher (Vince Vaughn). Freaky is freakishly fun and features hilariously committed performances from its two leads, and further establishes Landon as a force to be reckoned with in the horror scene.
‘The Walking Dead (Season 10)’ (Netflix)
The series that - much like its lumbering monsters - refuses to die, Netflix has finally added the tenth season of The Walking Dead to its library. Set several months after the massacre perpetrated during the community fair, the season focuses on the united communities as they initiate a fight in order to end the threat of the Whisperers. It marks the final season for Danai Gurira, who has been a star of the show since its third season.
‘Gloves Off’ (Hulu)
Funny, heartwarming, and exceptionally clever, Gloves Off stars Brad Moore as a fighter named Doug who inherits a crumbling debt-ridden gym. He must raise £50,000 fast or risk watching his mentor’s legacy re-possessed and transformed into a jumped-up Pilates parlour for stock brokers. Desperate, Doug agrees to train a gentle giant to fight in a £100,000 winner-takes-all bare-knuckle contest.
‘Bartkowiak’ (Netflix)
After his brother dies in a car crash, a disgraced MMA fighter (Jozef Pawlowski) takes over the family nightclub -- and soon learns his sibling's death wasn't an accident. He's forced to go against the shady corporate power brokers and will have to get in the ring one more time in this memorable action flick with heart.
‘Der Bunker’ (Shudder)
Der Bunker comes from Germany and is a strange, twisted and surprisingly funny horror comedy. The film follows a young student (Pit Bukowski) seeking quiet and solitude only to end up as the teacher of a peculiar boy (Daniel Fripan) who is home-schooled by his parents in an isolated bunker mansion. They believe - among many other bizarre things - that the boy will become President of the United States, despite, you know, living in Germany.
‘Lost in Vagueness’ (Hulu)
Lost in Vagueness is a music documentary that tells the story of Roy Gurvitz, creator of Lost Vagueness at Glastonbury and who, as legendary founder Michael Eavis says, reinvigorated the festival. With the decadence of 1920's Berlin, but all in a muddy field. The film details the dark, self-destructive side of creativity and the personal trauma behind it.
‘The Last Mercenary’ (Netflix)
Starring iconic action legend Jean-Claude Van Damme, Netflix's The Last Mercenary follows a secret agent-turned-mercenary who comes out of hiding to save the son he's never met, who's been framed for a crime by an international terrorist organization. The film has plenty of action and also a good amount of unexpected laughs to go with it.
‘The Good the Bad the Weird’ (Hulu)
From acclaimed Korean genre wizard, Kim Jee-Woon comes a classic good versus bad showdown shot through with wild kinetic enthusiasm off-the-charts action inspired by Westerns. In the 1930s Manchurian desert, where lawlessness rules, the fates of three mysterious men collide on a train carrying precious cargo. The trio are swept up in a frantic chase across the wilderness, fighting all the way for possession of a mysterious treasure map.

‘Star Wars: The Bad Batch’ (Disney+)
The Bad Batch is the latest of Star Wars’ various animated series, and the first to premiere on Disney+. Originally introduced in the prior series, The Clone Wars, the Bad Batch are a squad of clone troopers that had genetic mutations occur during the cloning process. This has given them unique abilities that other clones do not, and together they form an elite squadron to battle on the front lines of the war. The series begins with the squad dealing with the galaxy-shattering events of Order 66 and the end of the Clone Wars. It will certainly be interesting to see what happened to the clone army in between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, and the series also introduces a new female clone named Omega (Michelle Ang) who joins the Bad Batch on their missions. The first fourteen episodes are now streaming.
