A new horror from the mind behind The Haunting of Hill House arrives on Netflix, Creepshow returns to Shudder, Star Wars finally gets a proper anime series and more in this week's guide

OUT NOW:

‘Midnight Mass’ (Netflix)

From one of the modern masters of horror, Mike Flanagan, Midnight Mass is a religious and existential themed journey that just might the filmmakers best work yet, and that's saying something for the man who made The Haunting of Hill House. The seven episode series follows a man named Riley (Zach Gilford) who, along with his childhood friend Erin (Kate Siegel), returns to his childhood home of Crockett Island after years of running away. Their arrival coincides with that of Father Paul (Hamish Linklater) a lively new priest who takes over at the town's only church to spread the good word - maybe a little too well. Miracles begin to happen in the small community, ones both amazing and horrifying, and there's always a price to be paid in the end.
