The rights to the lovable and adorable Winnie the Pooh and his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood have long been held by Disney. Until now. Those rights to the children's classic originally created by author A.A. Milne and illustrator E.H. Shephard have now officially entered public domain. Anything goes, for better and worse.
Director, writer and producer Rhys Waterfield is the first to come out of the gates swinging with - what else? - a horror movie that borrows the familiar look of Pooh and his pals to disturbingly creepy effect. Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey sees Pooh and Piglet out for blood in a straight up slasher movie.
In this violent new take on a childhood classic, beloved characters Pooh and Piglet turn wild and go on a brutal rampage after being abandoned by Christopher Robin. The film is a co-production between Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios and the cast includes Amber Doig-Thorne, Maria Taylor and Danielle Scott. Can we possibly make this a franchise? Why not?
