Skate culture and apparel giant DC has announced a limited edition collection of their most enduring silhouettes and an accompanying capsule of soft goods all of which pay homage to the heavy metal institution that is Black Sabbath.
Celebrating the intrinsic commonality of metal music and skateboarding culture, the Sabbath-themed collection specifically showcases the iconic artwork and unmistakable aesthetic Sabbath's 1971 seminal album, Master of Reality. After 50 years the genre-defining release continues to permeate in contemporary culture, with generations of fans galvanizing over their admiration the forefathers of distorted darkness.
Doubling down on the link skate and sound, the DC X Black Sabbath Collection, produced in partnership with Bravado, has also pooled together an impressive assembly of musicians in Harshmellow featuring special guests J Mascis, Jeff Ament, and Mario Rubalcaba, Surfbort, Lou Barlow, The Spits, King Khan, and The Melvins for a limited edition, track-for-track tribute album in Shadow of Reality.
Ensuring that the audio tribute also included some DC team presence, lifelong Sabbath fan and skateboarding pillar Danny Way took on the classic, "Embryo" with DC rider Evan Smith leading his band UVWAYS in a proper rendition of "Children of the Grave".
Tending to the details of the comprehensive tribute project, DC tapped revered artist BB. Bastidas to complete the album art for the Shadow of Reality tribute album. Produced solely for promotional purposes, only 1,000 copies of exists ensuring the not only is the album rare, but a true collector's item for those lucky enough to score their copy.
