Continuing the series of exploratory dives into Hyro The Hero's forthcoming Kids Against the Monsters mixtape set to arrive later this year on Better Noise Music, venerated journalist Ryan J. Downey has linked with the man himself and his most recent creative cohort in AJ Channer of Fire From The Gods to discuss their latest joint effort in 'FU2".
The genre-melding track boasts the incendiary lyrical fluidity and socially conscious bite that has become part of Hyro's signature. Adding the commanding vocal prowess of Channer, the jam that has yet again raised the bar in a succession of singles that have already built a groundswell of momentum supporting the mixtape.
In the Mixtape Dive feature, Downey moderates a casual, candid conversation with the well-spoken tandem that runs the gamut from from hip hop beef, the cultural crossover into rock music, how the pair fist came together and naturally, the intensity of their eventual collaboration. Weighing the importance of having a broad social perspective, combined with a knack for melding their influences with repeating them, the guys explained how the track not only meshed well but also makes a powerful statement.
Hyro will also headline Knotfest's second Pulse of the Maggots Festival on Friday June 25th, streaming on Knotfest Twitch. He's joined by As Everything Unfolds, Lotus Eater, Gaerea and 9 other of the most exciting emerging artists in the genre. Full story here.
