There have been few professional wrestlers that have left the kind of impact on the sport the way Triple H has. During his 25 year tenure, he has evolved into the 'King of Kings.' the 'Cerebral Assassin,' and truly one of sports entertainment's most accomplished figures.
Pivoting to become an equally accomplished executive at the helm of WWE NXT, Triple H has built a brand that has become synonymous with ushering in an exciting new era of the sport.
An important part of that evolution of the brand has been the integration of music into the fabric of the sport. The NXT brand is where wrestling's new crop of superstars really come into focus. It has also become a unique platform for rock music given the importance of one crucial aspect to professional wrestling - the theme song.
The brand has built a reputation by showcasing a soundtrack that has included the likes of Coheed & Cambria, Bring Me the Horizon, GHOST, Parkway Drive, Asking Alexandria, Neck Deep, A Day to Remember, and Babymetal just to name a few.
In recent years, live performances by the likes of Poppy and the groundbreaking pandemic-era performance from Code Orange has really linked NXT to the culture of aggressive music. Making arguably it's most emphatic statement as it pertains to the role of music within the brand, NXT currently features Slipknot's "All Out of Life" as the show's theme song.
Though music has long been an important part of the presentation of the professional wrestler, there is room to assert that Triple H perfected the art of the entrance song. While he now functions as an ambassador with cutting edge artists via NXT, he is also the same man that walked to the squared circle with Lemmy Kilmister blaring at arena level volume.
Celebrating the 25th anniversary of Triple H's tenure, the WWE has released a special limited edition vinyl that revisits the comprehensive musical evolution of Triple H.
From his early days as Hunter Hearst Helmsley to the undeniable force of D Generation X to his arrival as The Game, the 11-track collection marks each era and reiterates the kind of legacy that Triple H has forged in the WWE.
The vinyl release highlights the kinship between Triple H and Lemmy with Motörhead's "The Game", "King of Kings", and "Line In The Sand", all anchoring the record. Fittingly, the first track on Side A is Lemmy's rendition of "Behold The King."
