Recorded in 2020 and intended to be the successor to Children Of Bodom, the three-track effort was Alexi Laiho’s final recorded work before his untimely passing.
Revered guitarist and founding frontman for metal pillars Children of Bodom, Alexi Laiho, tragically passed away earlier this year.
Despite suffering from long terms health issues in his last years, Laiho continued to write and record music, forging ahead with this Bodom After Midnight project. Bodom After Midnight was the beginning of a new chapter Laiho’s in career and had completed a three track introductory EP, Paint The Sky With Blood set for a Spring 2021 release, with bigger plans of a full length album. Little did anyone know, it would be Laiho’s Swan’s Song.
Honoring the life and legacy of Laiho, Bodom After Midnight and Napalm Records will release Laiho’s final work in Paint the Sky With Blood on April 23rd. Showcasing Laiho’s prowess both as a songwriter and performer, the EP underscores his colossal talent and his significant impact on the world of heavy music.
“Like ourselves, Alexi was beyond stoked about these songs and anxious to get these out so we are happy that we can fulfill his wish. Needless to say that we are honored and proud to be a part of his very last creative work and unleash it the way he wanted it to. It’s time to let the beast out of the cage one more time as a celebration of Alexi’s music,– BODOM AFTER MIDNIGHT
legacy and the man himself.”
Paint The Sky With Blood will be available in various formats including an LTD Deluxe Box Set that includes the DigiPak, a Bodom After Midnight flag, pendant, and art print of Alexi Laiho, and a photo of the band.
