Working with composer Fil Eisler, the quartet of rock music royalty deliver an appropriately epic cut for the superhero comedy streamer.
On April 9th Netflix will debut the Melissa McCarthy superhero action comedy, Thunder Force. Written and directed by Ben Falcone, the film boasts an ensemble cast of Octavia Spencer, Jason Bateman, Bobby Cannavale, Pom Klementieff, Kevin Dunn, and Melissa Leo in a story about an unlikely pair of heroines tasked with taking on a revolving door of super villains.
To handle the music for the superhero romp, Falcone tapped composer Fil Eisler to ensure the tunes were in line with the epic fight scenes and spectacle of the film. Delegating the kind of musical aggression needed for the film, Eisler brought in the expertise of Scott Ian of Anthrax and Dave Lombardo of Slayer, Mr. Bungle, Dead Cross, and too many to name handle the film heavy music heavy lifting.
Going especially epic for the film’s theme, Ian and Lombardo recruited the powerhouse vocal tandem of Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor and Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale in a resulting performance that is befitting a superhero flick. The collaborative effort of some of heavy music’s best and brightest adds to the excitement surrounding the film’s release.
“I have had the privilege of working in the music industry for over 35 years,” Lombardo shared. “There is something incredibly exhilarating about performing on stage, specifically the edge that comes with the off the rails style of music I play. Working with Fil Eisler on Thunder Force somehow captured that same feeling. This score is a powerful musical engine. It was a pleasure to be a part of the team that helped this come to life.”
Corey Taylor chimed in, “It was awesome to work on this track with Lzzy and be a part of the film Thunder Force. It is always nice to be creative and work with other artists in the community, especially during this extended time at home. I’m excited for everyone to hear the song and see the film!”
Hale expressed a similar sentiment in being able to work with such established contemporaries. “I’m beyond excited to be included on the Thunder Force soundtrack, surrounded by friends, representing the genres I love so much, Rock and Metal! You won’t know what hit you! Remember, LIGHTNING NEVER STRIKES IF YOU CAN’T FORCE THE THUNDER!”
