The troupe showcases a sensory feast that combined cirque art and heavy music essentials.

Asserting an element of theatrics and visual artistry in an evening heavy with sonic aggression, Macaberet variety specialists Cherry Bombs pieced together a sensory feast that showcased some another facet of the counter culture celebration that is Knotfest.

A mesmerizing showcase of subversive cirque art, set to a soundtrack of heavy music fundamentals, the troupe kicked off their stage time under a wash of blue light and the blare of Spiritbox’s “Holy Roller”. The introductory segment of succinct choreography and dazzling still walking offered an intriguing, intoxicating visual that had the fans fixed.

The next portion implemented a very real element of danger as the aerialists of Cherry Bombs took centerstage, ascending to unconscionable heights to Nine Inch Nails’ “We’re In This Together”. Soaring high above the stadium floor, the crowd seemed both stiff with tension and spellbound with fascination equally.

Then, Cherry Bombs struck a match and illuminated the night with a fiery spectacle set to Rammstein’s anthemic “Du Hast” – a track that rallied the fans and prompted an audible shrill that spread throughout Banc of California Stadium.

From precision choreography to Prodigy’s “Breathe” to sultry red silk aerials to In This Moment’s “Sick Like Me,” to the shower of sparks in the angle grinding to Motley Crüe’s “Live Wire”, Cherry Bombs compiled a visual spectacle that not only reveled in outsider art but penned an unconventional love letter to the power of rock music.

Highlighting their range of source material and musical muses, Cherry Bombs packaged their finale of neon high flying with the subtle seduction of Sneaker Pimps “Spin Spin Sugar” only to go out with an emphatic bang to Refused’s bombastic “New Noise”.

Dancing in the face of danger and asserting the creative force that is this versatile girl gang, Cherry Bombs seized their shine at Knotfest LA and walked off triumphant.
