Get a glimpse into the immediate future of live music.

Making headlines a few months ago as the UK’s very first dedicated, socially-distanced venue, Virgin Money Unity Arena in Gosforth Park, Newcastle announced their plan for bringing back live music and entertainment – safely.

The very first event in the schedule took place on August 11th and featured a performance from British artist Sam Fender. Among the attendees, some 2500 fans passed through the gates and were all organized into designated, individual, barricaded viewing spaces to ensure social distancing.

Images shared via social media from the event are included below to offer a glimpse into what the immediate future of live entrainment is going to look like.

Among the confirmed events on the schedule for Virgin Money Unity Arena include performances by Maximo Park, Van Morrison, Two Door Cinema Club, Supergrass, and The Libertines among others.

In stark contrast, the seemingly safe, successful showing in the UK happened as the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Sioux Falls, South Dakota drew a few hundred thousand bikers to the scenic small city for the annual rally. Among the entertainment included artists like Smashmouth and Trapt, which seemed to draw fans that didn’t participate in social distancing or sporting their face-coverings.
