The latest tour diary from the band highlights some of the biggest shows the band has ever played and how the OGs of the Bizkit are nurturing the new generation.
Touring on the strength of their lauded 2021 debut How Flowers Grow, the Santa Cruz hardcore collective of Scowl has established their rank as one of the community’s most quickly promising prospects – for good reason. Contrasting a flowery aesthetic with a ferocious musicality, Scowl crafts modern punk in a way that positions the band ahead of the curve.
With a stylistic signature that ropes in elements of 90’s-era alt, rumbling low-end Bay area punk, and hardcore confrontation all in the collection of songs, the band’s ability to translate across a broad range of fans is evident given their current run.
Earning an opening spot on their biggest tour to date supporting Limp Bizkit, Scowl have transitioned to big-room, arena-level spectacle seamlessly, bolstered by an infectious brand of modernized hardcore that are quickly identifying just why the hype has been so huge.
Documenting the day-to-day of such an important milestone for the band, Scowl have opened up their camera roll to share with Knotfest for a first-hand account what life looks like in between tour stops. From truck stop dinners, dressing room moments and sharing the stage with legends like the Limp, the following tour diary frames tour life through the lens of the band themselves.
Entry 1: Being on this tour has been great. We are playing venues bigger than we have ever played before. Playing to crowds of this size has been wild and a dream come true. The amount of work from everyone involved to make it happen is something we never imagined until getting on this tour.
Entry 2: While in-between shows we always try and stop to see things in the towns we played and be tourists. After playing Wilkes Barre PA we stopped to see the mural for Title Fight’s album, Hyperview.
Entry 3: Getting ready for the shows includes all of us setting up, and unloading. Getting changed, cleaned up, and ready to go. One nice thing on this tour is we have a place besides the van to get ready. Kat has spent years doing her makeup in the van while we were driving and having to navigate pot holes and bumpy roads. On this tour we’ve been able to take advantage of the fact that we have a mirror and lights in the room.
Entry 4: Luke has been our sound guy this tour for us and Wargasm and been doing a great job. We are fortunate to have him on this tour because he really goes above and beyond!
Entry 5: One major change playing in these settings for us is the fact that they have lighting going on.
Entry 6: Limp Bizkit has been one of the most supportive bands we’ve ever toured with and have really made this tour one we will never forget. Some of the nicest people we’ve ever toured with. Every night they have us and the rest of the bands come on stage at the end of the set and introduce all of us to the crowd before the last song.
