Metallica have ramped up their run towards the September 10th arrival date of their remastered, 30th anniversary edition of their seminal Black Album.
Releasing the third installment of their recent exploration into the podcasting space, the band's latest segment explores more of Bob Rock's pivotal role in helping to drive Metallica to its full potential by expanding their sound.
Among the important takeaways from the episode, the band shares how Rock got them to all record in the same room together and how that configuration really transformed the way Metallica played. The album served as a landmark transition for the not only the bigger picture of heavy music, but showcased the evolution of Metallica from genre-defining 80's thrash, to a new era of the 90's that would transform the landscape of rock music forever.
Among the guests for the third episode include Bob Rock naturally, photographer Ross Halfin, Lzzy Hale of Halestorm who shares how Metallica has influenced her career, and Bob Rock’s son, Mik Rock, whose role on the track “Enter Sandman” is revealed for the first time ever.
In addition to the podcast episode, Metallica have confirmed they will be the special musical guests on the September 10th episode of ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live. The band shared, "Our friend Jimmy Kimmel has kindly invited us to join him once again on Friday, September 10th to celebrate the reissue of 'The Black Album.' It’s been almost five years since we last connected, so we’re really looking forward to rolling into LA to chat with Jimmy and play live…there may be a few surprises too!'
