The first PG movie from the horror icon will lovingly recreate the classic TV show
One of the most buzzed-about upcoming movies is undoubtedly Universal’s remake of the classic television series The Munsters. Shock rock horror king Rob Zombie has been tapped to bring the show to life in a new film adaptation and the iconic frontman has admitted that it’s been a passion project for him.
Zombie has been steadily sharing behind-the-scenes looks on his social media pages, everything from production photos to cast announcements to set and prop work. The cast is now made up of Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily Munster, Jeff Daniel Philips as Herman Munster, Daniel Roebuck as Grandpa, Richard Brake as Dr. Augustus Wolfgang, Sylvester McCoy as Igor, Jorge Garcia as Floop, Catherine Schell as Zoya Krupp, and Cassandra Peterson AKA Elvira, Mistress of the Dark as Barbara Carr.
Universal has released the first teaser for the upcoming film, giving us our first real look at the main trio of characters in action – now in living color! Fans expecting another insane R-rated nightmare from Zombie will be a little disappointed, as the director has stated that “for those of you speculating, wondering and assuming that The Munsters would be dirty, violent and nasty… well, you are wrong, the film is rated PG”. This will be a first for Zombie and will be very interesting to see how the filmmaker’s usual excess gets tapered down (or redirected) for a family friendly movie.
‘The Munsters’ will release in theaters and stream on Peacock later this year.
