Jordan Peele has knocked it out of the park with his first two features Get Out and Us, helping create a horror renaissance that’s still being felt today. He’s finally returned with his third film, the brilliantly titled Nope, which sees him residing comfortably in his horror wheelhouse once again. Not much has been known about the plot for some time, and the official poster released a few months ago has proved to be effectively vague.
But the first trailer for Peele's next potential masterpiece has finally arrived, and while most is still unseen and unexplained, this first look does seem to give away a couple of details. James (Daniel Kaluuya) and Jill Haywood (Keke Palmer) run Haywood Ranch as the only Black-owned horse trainers in Hollywood. The two raise and train the horses out in a small community a good ways away from bigger civilization, and one day strange events begins to occur that affect the entire town. Is it aliens? A government experiment? Something worse? That remains to be seen.

The film reunites Peele with Oscar® winner Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out, Judas and the Black Messiah), who is joined by Keke Palmer (Hustlers, Alice) and Oscar® nominee Steven Yeun (Minari, Okja) as residents in a lonely gulch of inland California who bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery.
Nope, which co-stars Michael Wincott (Hitchcock, Westworld) and Brandon Perea (The OA, American Insurrection), is written and directed by Jordan Peele and is produced by Ian Cooper (Us, Candyman) and Jordan Peele for Monkeypaw Productions. The film will be released by Universal Pictures worldwide.
'Nope' arrives in theaters July 22nd, 2022.
