Two separate fights for survival against the zombie horde will unfold this summer

Originally announced back in 2020, mega zombie franchise Resident Evil is getting its first ever live-action television series. After years of consistent film adaptations of the original video game series, including last year’s most recent big screen release Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, the franchise is now set to take over streaming television over at Netflix.

The series follows will take place across two timelines and follows Jade Wesker – daughter of familiar Resident Evil character Albert Wesker – as she fights for survival in a world overrun by blood-thirsty infected and insane creatures. In this absolute carnage, Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, by her father’s chilling connections to the Umbrella Corporation, but mostly by what happened to her sister, Billie.

The eight-episode series stars Lance Reddick as Albert Wesker, Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, and Paola Nuñez. The series is written by Andrew Dabb (Supernatural) and will have Bronwen Hughes (The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad) executive-produce and direct the first two episodes.

Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for the series, where we get our first look at the post-apocalyptic world that it will take place in. Zombies are in high abundance and the action looks killer, so hopefully the streaming giant can do justice to the beloved video game franchise.

'Resident Evil' comes exclusively to Netflix on July 14th 2022.
