The band has reunited with producer, Terry Date.

Though the details are still vague, Deftones drummer Abe Cunningham confirmed some news that fans of the band have been waiting for. It sounds like Deftones 9thj studio album is just a few months away from being released. During this weekend’s Download TV streaming event, Abe was asked what the status of the latest record was. He explained that the tracking actually happened last summer but the process has been pushed back some given the current pandemic.

As for the direction of the new material, Cunningham talked about reconnecting with producer Terry Date and how that has influenced the outcome. “We can’t help but sound like ourselves, but just being back with Terry, there’s certain sounds that we developed with Terry that kind of became sort of our core sounds, and those are back again.”

Though no specific date has been announced, Cunningham hinted at September for a potential release date.
