The single serves as the first Biot of new music since the band’s 2018 full length, Vaxis I: The Unheavenly Creatures.
It’s been three long years since Coheed and Cambria fans we immersed in the mastery of Vaxis I: The Unheavenly Creatures, the album which saw Coheed and Cambria make their thematic return to The Armory Wars story arc.
Now the band have debuted their first proper studio recording since then with the single, “Shoulders” in what translates as an especially personal document for the band’s architect in Claudio Sanchez. While fans are already clamoring for a potential Vaxis 2 with the news of the single, the track’s core resonates as a bit of a departure from the expansive comic book universe that has anchored the band’s catalog thus far.
Coheed and Cambria’s driving force Claudio Sanchez explained the significance of “Shoulders”, “In art, in your career, in relationships… No matter how much you give of yourself or try, you have to accept that not everything in life can be a perfect fit.”
The news of the single comes as the band prepares for their summer outdoor co-headlining amphitheatre tour with The Used. The 18-city U.S. tour, begins August 27th in Irvine, CA and will feature special guests Meet Me At The Altar and carolesdaughter on select dates.
