The band’s concept album, ‘The New Dark Ages’ arrives June 3rd on Pit Records.
The first single from GWAR’s upcoming fifteenth full length studio effort in The New Dark Ages has finally arrived. Just weeks before the beginning of the North American leg of their Black Death Rager World Tour, the band has unveiled the emphatic, “Mother Fucking Liar” as the first serving the new offering.
“This song is for anybody who’s sick of all the pieces of shit talking out of both sides of their mouth. Motherfuck a motherfucking liar,” says vocalist Blöthar the Berserker.
The album chronicles GWAR’s journey into the Duoverse, where the band squares against living monuments of a lost cause and armies of undead soldiers who “Rise Again” inciting a new civil war.
The album’s overarching theme is paired with the companion graphic novel, “GWAR In the Duoverse of Absurdity,” published in partnership with Z2 Comics. The graphic novel finds the band jettisoned into an alternate universe where they must battle with their evil twins and while navigating the peril of rogue technology. The graphic novel also arrives on the same day as the band’ latest album, June 3rd.
The release of both the album and the companion novel will be supported by a comprehensive touring schedule in The Black Death Rager World Tour that begins it’s North American leg next month. GWAR, along with support from Goatwhore, Nekrogoblikon and The Native Howl begin the campaign on May 19th in Fort Wayne, IA and wrap up the first stretch in Norfolk, WV on June 18th.
GWAR will also make several festival appearances throughout the season including highly-billed showings at major destinations like Wacken and Bloodstock Open Air later this summer.
