One the most anticipated tours of the year has made some adjustments as international visa issues have forced In Flames to step down from the trek.
The Metal Tour of the Year has long been in the works and remains one of the most anticipated heavy music treks of the year. With thrash legends Megadeth headlining the engagement, along with support from Virginia metal juggernaut Lamb of Gob and Floridian powerhouse Trivium, the line-up also boasted metallic veterans In Flames as the first of four in what was a stellar bill.
With just about a month left before the run begins, it has been announced that due to international visa issues, In Flames will no longer be able to join the caravan forcing the tour to make another adjustment. The good news however is that while the tour lost In Flames, the addition of hardcore crossover heroes Hatebreed has only bolstered the already stacked bill.
The tour will serve as Megadeth;s triumphant return to the live stage – their first since 2017. Frontman and band architect Dave Mustaine issued the following of the announcement. “Can you hear that sound of armies on the march – of destruction on the horizon? That’s this tour, coming for you. We cannot wait to return to the stage and I promise you you do NOT want to miss these shows. You’re not going to know what hit you!”
The summer tour for Megadeth sees the band hitting the road as they finalize the details for their long-awaited follow-up to their 2016 Grammy-Award winning Dystopia – an album that is remains one of the most-anticipated releases of the year. As for Lamb of God, The Metal Tour of the Year will give the band their first opportunity to share the live experience of their universally-acclaimed 2020 self-titled release – an album that topped many ‘Best of’ lists to close out the year.
Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe also chimed in on the excitement surrounding the tour, “It’s been far too long since we got together to do our thing— by ‘we’ I mean bands, road crew, bus drivers, truck drivers, local venue staff, vendors, audience, parking lot attendants, the freaking janitors- the whole damn enchilada. ALL OF US. TOGETHER. Everyone has been waiting, but the time has come to put the puzzle back together— I honestly don’t think I’ve ever been more ready to hit the road with lamb of god. See y’all in a few months with Megadeth, Trivium, & now Hatebreed. Over a year with no live music? These shows are gonna be INSANE…”
