The fourth single from ‘Foregone’ asserts that fourteen albums in, the Swedish legends still wield a heavy stick.
En route to the February 10th arrival of the In Flames’ fourteenth studio album, Foregone, In Flames have showcased just why they are regarded as architects of the Swedish melodo-metal sound. Unloading the fourth preview of the Nuclear Blast Records release with “Meet Your Maker”, the single sets a relentless pace executed with all of the power and precision that has positioned the band as such respected contributors to the space of modern heavy music.
Thematically, the single taps into the real-life angst of traversing a post-pandemic society. The result is frenetic release of volatility on the track, channeled into band’s skilled show of force backed by frontman Anders Fridén dominant vocal presence.
The vocalist shared how the single served well in framing what fans can expect from the band’s forthcoming full length in Foregone. “When we started to write for Foregone, ‘Meet Your Maker’ became the song that set the tone in terms of what we were aiming for sonically as well as thematically. You’ll see it’s everything you’ve come to expect from In Flames and some. Enjoy and see you on the road in 2023!”
In addition to the arrival of the band’s fourteenth album, In Flames have announced their collaboration with Z2 Comics to launch their own graphic novel later this year. In Flames: The Jester’s Curse details the story of Jesterhead, “as he emerges from the Wasteland, where he finds himself trapped in Dead Eternity—a distorted reality where worlds collide and nightmares thrive”.
