Just weeks away from the release of the band’s highly anticipated debut, Where the Body Goes, the band has come apart within hours of the accusations first hitting social media.
Emerging Glasgow outfit Lotus Eater seem to have disbanded within hours of being hit with accusations of abuse against the band’s frontman, Paul Collins.
The allegations first surfaced on July 9th (Friday) via a dedicated Twitter handle in SurvivingPaulCollins @Surviving_PaulC . Shortly after the allegations surfaced on the social media platform, the band was swift and decisive with their response in issuing a quick statement declaring that Collins was no longer in the band.
One of Collins’ accusers that opted to share her identity via social media under the handle @sensible_heart offered her account of her experience with Collins in explicit detail. The post can be viewed below. Please be advised that the details may be disturbing to some readers.
Rather than wait to issue any formal rebuttal or allow the events to play out any further, the Lotus Eater social media accounts all went live with image that effectively announced the disbandment of the emerging heavy music prospects.
The shocking turn of events comes as the band has been riding an impressive wave of momentum leading into their Hopeless Records debut. Back in March, the band dropped their single, “Vermin” to much acclaim and recently debuted their most buzzworthy single to date with “Obliterate” featuring Oli Sykes of Bring Me The Horizon.
This is a developing story. Updates will soon follow.
