The announcement arrives as Megadeth celebrates their highest charting release ever in, ‘The Sick, The Dying… and the Dead!’

It makes that the first band to ever establish a presence online would now lead the charge into the space of Web3 technology. For nearly three decades, Megadeth have served as trailblazers in more ways than one, but particularly as a band that has fully embraced the leverage technology to increase their global footprint.

Back in 1994, during the infancy of the internet as the world now knows it, Megadeth established their own website and lay claim to being the first band to do so. Coupled with the website, the band, even then understood the importance of real world utility and used to it establish their Cyber Army, the Megadeth fan club that has since become a generational base for one of heavy music’s most influential bands. The gamble would ultimately segue into a complete shift in the culture of music and forever change how people consumed music and galvanized a community around art and information.

In much the same way Megadeth led the charge in the early 90’s, the band is again confidently trekking new terrain with their exploration of Web3 technology with the announcement of their one-of-a-kind generative art NFT collection, Rattleheads. Produced by Five to One Collective in partnership with Upper Echelon Studios, the project features the band’s iconic mascot Vic Rattlehead of the key art. The various iterations of the art will offer another component to the Cyber Army fan club and implement “mission deployment mechanics,” or military-like transmissions that will communicate how the NFTs can be used to secure real world benefits.

The band’s architect Dave Mustaine explains, “As long as Megadeth has been a band, I’ve made sure that we were leading the charge. Our first album set the standard for thrash metal. We were literally the first band to have a website. Our fan club, Cyber Army was started in 1994. Our 2016 album Dystopia came with a full Virtual Reality experience. And now with the rise of Web3 technology and its ability to directly connect us with our fans – this moment is perfect for Megadeth. It allows the ultimate connection with our community, and with none other than the almighty Vic Rattlehead as our standard-bearer.”

With updates set to be launched weekly, Megadeth fans are encouraged to join the Rattleheads Discord to get the latest on the project.

In related news, Megadeth have tallied their highest charting album to date with the arrival of The Sick, The Dying…and the Dead! Fueled by the strength of towering singles like “We’ll Be Back”, “Night Stalkers”, “Soldier On!” and the album’s title track, the album has earned universal acclaim and resonated with fans on a global scale.

The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!, captured the No. 3 spot on both the Official UK Album Chart and the US Billboard 200. The position gave the band their 8th US Top 10 album of their career, matching the highest position of their Grammy-winning 2016 full length, Dystopia.  In addition, Megadeth notched their highest charting position ever in numerous international territories including, #1 in FInland, #2 in Scotland, Switzerland, Poland and Australia, #6 in Germany and Belgium, # in Sweden and Norway and #10 in Japan among other key markets.

The band is set to embark on the The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead Headline World Tour in February of next year. The global trek includes a highly-touted Sunday night headlining performance at Bloodstock Festival in Derbyshire confirmed for August 13th. Tickets are available – HERE
