Megadeth introduce their landmark 16th studio album, ‘The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!’

The fiery introductory track “We’ll Be Back” arrives with a short film produced by Dave Mustaine himself that depicts the origins of the band’s iconic mascot, Vic Rattlehead.

Few albums, especially in the space of heavy music, have been as anticipated as new Megadeth. The pioneers of thrash last delivered a Grammy-award winning effort in 2016’s Dystopia, prompting fans to feverishly chomp at the bit for new music since.

After months of speculation, rumors, and plenty of online discussion, the band has confirmed a September 2nd arrival date via UMe for their 16th full length studio effort, The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead! Coupled with the news of the eagerly-awaited effort is the unveiling of a spectacular short film, produced by Dave Mustaine himself, for the album’s introductory track, “We’ll Be Back”. The film is entitled, We’ll Be Back: Chapter 1 documents the origins of the band’s iconic mascot, Vic Rattlehead, with a narrative that depicts a soldier’s heroic story of personal sacrifice and his will of survival.

We’ll Be Back: Chapter 1 is the first installment of a trilogy of videos to be released in the rollout campaign supporting the release of the new album.

In terms of personnel, Dave Mustaine reenlisted the talents of co-producer Chris Rakestraw (Danzig, Parkway Drive), who both captured magic on 2016’s Dystopia. The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead! was recorded at Mustaine’s home studio in Nashville, Tennessee, with guitarist Kiko Loureiro and drummer Dirk Verbeuren.  Splitting the duty on bass, Steve DiGiorgio temporarily stepped in to record the album, ultimately leading to Megadeth-alumni James LoMenzo rejoining the Megadeth family as the band’s permanent bassist for the start of the aptly title, Metal Tour of the Year.

The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead! showcases the stylistic signature of Megadeth – complete with the intricacy and innovative fretwork that has become synonymous with the band. Decades into his storied career, Mustaine delivers a metal music masterclass that reiterates his rank as an inimitable presence among heavy music’s most prominent contributors.

“For the first time in a long time, everything that we needed on this record is right in its place,” Dave Mustaine explained. “I can’t wait for the public to get hold of this!”

The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead! will be released on all physical formats including CD, vinyl, and cassette, in addition to the digital release. The album arrives September 2nd via UMe. Rre-ordered/pre-saved the album – HERE
