While working on their sophomore record the Nashville unit took a two-week tangent and churnd out a three-song assault that grabs you by the neck.
If the band’s debut was any indication, 2020’s Cost of Sacrifice put the world of heavy music on notice. The caustic mesh of various subgenres of metallic extremity resulted in an album that defied category and crushed in its execution.
Drawing parallels to a broad spectrum of bands ranging from Converge, Gojira, and Disembodied to name a few, the Nashville collective instantly resonated with fans as an exemplary unit that understood the balance of classic sound with contemporary implementation.
While followers of the band have since been waited with bated breath for the sophomore release, Chamber again flexed their embrace for working outside the lines and hit the world with a 3-song EP with absolutely zero spectacle, rollout and fanfare. Taking a quick two-week tangent from their work on a still forthcoming full length, Chamber assembled a trio of their most volatile, visceral recordings and purposed them into an effective indicator of what’s to come with the EP, Carved In Stone.
The band explain the unexpected drop, “Over the past few years we have taken time to refine and improve our vision for Chamber; expanding our sound through the same chaotic lens.” says the band. “We have been working towards a new album song by song, making sure that each one embodies the heart of our band while pushing us in new directions. Carved In Stone is part of the outcome of 2 weeks we spent recording with our friend Randy LeBoeuf in Belleville, NJ last November. As we continue writing for our second album, we’re so happy to finally share new music with everyone.”
The introductory single from the project in “Cellophane Form” is an all out barrage – organized chaos that asserts the band’s power, prowess and pummel in a way that simply can’t be ignored. Erratic timing, frenetic fretwork and searing vocal spew from Jacob Lilly combined to craft an assault that resonates with even the most cynical of heavy music die-hards.
