New Flesh: New Releases From Cage Fight, Demiricous, and More!

Posted by Corinne Westbrook in News on May 13, 2022

Murky sludge, death metal and thrash doom are just a few of the categories that fill out this week’s fresh picks.

This week we have some crossover thrash, with a little crossover thrash, and then some more crossover thrash. Along with releases from three death metal veterans. All in all, prepare for some bruises come Monday.

For all of our favorite new releases, be sure to follow the official Knotfest New Flesh Playlist.

Cage Fight – Cage Fight  – Thrash/Hardcore

The debut album from cross-over thrash/hardcore outfit is one hell of a debut! Packed to the brim with inventive songwriting that doesn’t ignore the staples of their two genre roots, Cage Fight is heavy upon heavy. This album, and this band in general, is made for live and I am 100% certain, their shows probably end with at least some blood on the floor.

Demiricous – III: Chaotic Lethal – Death Metal/Thrash

“III: Chaotic Lethal” is a brutal re-introduction to a long missed band. Demiricous burst back on the scene with their 3rd album after a 15 year hiatus, but it is as if no time has been lost. They are just as furious as ever and the fan reaction to their return shows this band always has had and always will have one of the most promising sounds in death thrash.

Hexicon – Leave It All Behind – Thrash/Doom

Hexicon actually released the first single for this album over a year and a half ago, so it has been a LOOOOOOONG wait for Leave It All Behind. Hexicon seamlessly fuses furious, shredding thrash with melodic interludes and a slow burning doom feel.

Jungle Rot – A Call To Arms – Death Metal

Jungle Rot has been kicking our asses for three decades now. Riffs upon riffs upon violence, A Call To Arms is quality death metal you would expect for these veterans of the genre. With allusions to war and violence, this album is a hard hitting affair that will leave you bludgeoned.

Misery Index – Complete Control – Death Metal

Misery Index continues to evolve their undeniably heavy sound on Complete Control. Death metal and groove join forces with the bands grind roots for an album that is engaging and violent in the right way. Punk-inspired rage adds an extra layer of brutality to an already savage album.

Primitive Man – Insurmountable EP – Death Metal/Sludge

Wrapping up this extremely heavy week is more heaviness because I feel like leaving you broken come Monday. Insurmountable, while brief, lack none of the ominous, unsettling brutality we know and love from Primitive Man. This EP can be summed up in one word: tortured.
