New Flesh: Releases from Final Light, Candy and More!

Posted by Corinne Westbrook in News on June 24, 2022

Two long awaited returns, one death metal making machine and a whole lot of experimentation and growth for the genre.

This week is an interesting week for new releases, listen to all of our favorite new releases and follow the official Knotfest New Flesh Playlist.

Belphegor – The Devils – Black Metal

Ever brutal, blackened and bestial, Belphegor are back with their 12th studio album brimming with hellish dissonance, nightmarish vocals, but also striking melodies and guitar work. The time changes throughout, with solid ebb and flow of buildup to break, keep the album engaging and enthralling.

Betraying The Martyrs – Silver Lining EP – Metalcore/Deathcore

Betraying the Martyrs straddle the line between metalcore and deathcore with Silver Lining. They oscillate back and forth between first generation deathcore verses and soaring metalcore choruses. The vicious and serene vocal pairing make for an exciting album.

Candy – Heaven Is Here – Hardcore

Anti-authoritarian heavy hitters Candy pulled out all of the stops with their industrial tinged new album Heaven is Here. This album takes hardcore to an otherwordly level, full of rage and ravenous fury against the establishment.

Final Light – Final Light – Experimental

Final Light is one of the best pieces commissioned by Roadburn. Cult of Luna’s Johannes teamed up with Perturbator to create a piece of music that is exploratory and experimental without being devoid of structure and melody. Absolutely mammoth soundscapes and digital instrumentation with bellowing roars and a dark, almost gothic, feel.

Porcupine Tree – Closure/Continuation – Progressive

Prog nerds rejoice! Porcupine Tree is back after a 12-year hiatus, with all the elements of Porcupine Tree fans know and love, but an additional sharpness to the music, something heavier underlying the familiar. Old fans of Porcupine Tree will be delights and new fans will dive head first into the prog rabbit hole.

Werewolves – From The Cave To The Grave – Technical Death Metal

Chaotic riffs, demonic vocals and some seriously disturbing album art, From the Cave to the Grave is the third Werewolves release in as many years. With each release they crank up the brutality for some neck breaking good times.
