Spearheaded by punk stalwart Keith Morris and Dimitri Coats the new line-up includes Autry Fulbright II of …And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead and drummer Justin Brown of Thundercat and Herbie Hancock.

It has been seven years since the world last heard anything new from OFF! the amalgam of Keith Morris of Circle Jerks and Black Flag and Dimitri Coats formerly of Burning Brides. To mark their return and the unveiling of a new line-up that welcomes bassist Autry Fulbright II of …And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead and drummer Justin Brown of Thundercat and Herbie Hancock, the punk purveyors have unleashed their raucous cover of Metallica’s “Holier Than Thou” as an emphatic reintroduction.

Among the 53 featured artists contributing to Metallica’s 30th anniversary compilation of their seminal Black Album, ‘Blackist’ showcases an eclectic roster of collaborators from various genres all offering their creative take on select cuts from the landscape shifting Black Album. As for OFF! the band’s sharp social commentary and confrontational ethos make their take on “Holier The Thou” a perfect fit.

The visual features the band taking a bit of a surprise gig at the behest of Angelo Moore of Fishbone, only to find themselves at full volume in the middle of a church service. The bit of tongue-in-cheek take remains on brand with quick wit of the band and the underlying message at the core of the heavy metal classic. The music video also features best spots from David Yow of Jesus Lizard and Derrick Beckles of TV Carnage.

Along with the reveal of the music video for their Metallica contribution, OFF! has also announced the beginning of their Fat Possum era. Signing to the indie powerhouse, the band is currently working on their next full length studio effort and plans to drop various reissues via FP. In addition to the new full length record with the newly formulated line up, the band is also in the thick of working on a feature length sci-fi film that has been long in the making.

Metallica’s ‘Blackist’ compilation is currently available for pre-order – HERE. Watch OFF! take fans to church for their rendition of the Metallica classic, “Holier Than Thou” below.
