Genre-bending provocateur Poppy has become a mainstay among WWE fans.
With four appearances for WWE NXT broadcasts including her first in October of 2019, a double header in February of 2020, and a grand performance for the NXT pay per view event Halloween Havoc, the pop-metal sensation is already a fixture within the universe of the wrestling banner.
Confirming her fifth and latest appearance, Poppy will be performing at NXT's TakeOver: Stand & Deliver on Thursday, April 8. The performance was reported exclusively via Billboard along with the news that Poppy will be debuting new music for her latest collaboration with the WWE.
"Music has always been such a big part of WWE," says Triple H, Paul Levesque, WWE's Executive Vice President of global talent strategy and development. "Music adds so much to the emotion of what it is we do and that connection has been there since the very beginning when you had the rock and wrestling connection with Cyndi Lauper as part of the WWE."
Rather than simply paying to use an artist's music, Levesque has ushered in an era of the banner that entice artists with the unique platform that the WWE and it's properties like NXT present. The audience is especially loyal and the synergy between the promotion and the artists that participate seems to be paying off in spades. From Code Orange to Bad Bunny, the WWE has become a unique launching pad sending already ascending stars into a whole new stratosphere.
The two-night NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver will air on the USA Network at 8:00 p.m. ET on April 7th. Night two, April 8th, will begin streaming at 8:00 p.m. ET exclusively on Peacock in the U.S. and WWE Network for the global audience. Poppy is slated to perform on April 8th.
In addition to the news of Poppy's new chapter kicking off via the WWE, she will be closing out her previous chapter of the I Disagree era with a streaming event dubbed, The Last Disagreement. Produced in partnership with VEEPS, the event will afford Poppy the opportunity to share her complete creative vision of the album in a live setting, captivating a global audience.
The album was met with both critical and commercial success, launching Poppy to the forefront of pop culture and iultimaing with a Grammy nomination for 'Best Metal Performance' for the track BLOODMONEY. The achievement was especially significant, making Poppy the fist female artist to earn the honor.
