The collection includes both physical prints and limited NFTs as well as an immersive digital gallery scored by Tankian and featuring the animation of Roger Kupelian.
Social activist, cultural ambassador and rock music pillar Serj Tankian has announced a new exhibition of his art in a collection that will launch December 6th via an online gallery created in partnership with CurioNFT.
‘Not for Touching – The Intangible Composition’ will feature 21 original works from Tankian and will be comprised of both virtual and physical offerings including animated NFTs and archival giclée prints. Among the bounty of artistry available for fans to own include several one-of-one NFTs that come with an signed giclée print, four series of one of 25 NFTs with signed giclée prints as well as four one of 100 NFT only releases.
“I got into painting to see my music,” shares Tankian. The System of a Down frontman further detailed his rollout via Rolling Stone. “By adding musical compositions to art, we’ve created a more powerful encompassing experience for lovers of art and music. NFTs are a natural progression allowing the art and music to move within the scopes of our retinas and our creative minds. I called it ‘Not For Touching’ (NFT) cause it’s a lot sexier than non-fungible tokens.”
To differentiate his venture into the space of digital art and collectibles, Tankian has also included his music with the NFTs on that will be available via ‘Not For Touching’. Further delving into the complete exhibition experience with a complete online gallery space, Tankian has also enlisted Roger Kupelian whose resume includes films like The Lord of The Rings and Hugo, to helm the large scale animation for the simulated rooms of the digital gallery space – creating a truly immersive experience.
Keenly aware of the environmental impact of NFTs, Tankian and CurioNFT use a process called “Lazy Minting,” in an effort to better reduce emissions. The minting is completed during times of low Ethereum usage, generating only 2% of the emissions of a typical NFT minted on Ethereum. The process is carbon footprint is comparable to that of sending about 17 emails with attachments.
Doubling down on the importance of social and environmental initiatives, CurioNFT has planted more than 12,000 trees in an effort to offset the emissions of NFTs. That number is began tallying just in September.
As for the social aspect of the creative initiative, Tankian and CurioNFT have pledged 10% of sales from the exhibit to The TUMO Center for Creative Technologies. Boasting an international scope with locations throughout Armenia, Lebanon, France, Russia, Germany and Albania, the free of charge program consists of workshops and project labs that include 14 learning targets ranging from animation to web development.
