The trek two day engagement marks the band’s first time back in Japan since 2016’s Prepare for Hell Tour.
Slipknot continues to add their international touring slate for 2023, reaching various corners of the globe in support of their most recent masterclass, The End, So Far.
Under the banner of their counter culture congregation in the Knotfest brand, Slipknot have already confirmed their own festival headlining plays with both Knotfest Australia and the inaugural Knotfest Italy. While Knotfest Japan has technically been on the books since 2020, the band has now announced additional details of the April 1st and 2nd excursion to Makuhari Messe just outside of Tokyo, Japan.
Having been postponed on three different occasions since the initial 2020 date, organizers first had March 20th and 21st, 2020 in the books. With the pandemic ultimately halting the normalcy of the world, the festival was then moved to January 11th and 12th, 2021 only to again face ongoing restrictions amid the still very prevalent pandemic. Knotfest Japan was again moved to April 9th and 10th, 2022.
With pandemic related mandates still in play and the uncertainty of travel restrictions, organizers along with management made the call to push Knotfest Japan a full calendar year to ensure the safety of everyone involved and a seamless run of show.
Now, the band has confirmed additional details for Knotfest Japan, unveiling the first announcement of supporting artists for the two-day celebration. Confirmed for April 1st, scheduled as the Knotfest Roadshow date, Slipknot will be joined by Shibuya City’s own, Man With A Mission. For the April 2nd Knotfest date, Slipknot will be joined by metal icons Korn along with Tokyo experimental metal outfit, Maximum the Hormone.
Ticket holders from previously postponed dates will still be honored. The pre-sale for Knotfest Japan will begin Thursday December 15th 12:00pm JST and extend until Sunday December 18th at 11:59pm. The first stage general on-sale begins Monday December 19th at 12:00pm and runs until Jan. 9th 11:59pm JST.
