Besting bands like Spiritbox, brand of Sacrifice and The Agonist, the champions of ‘Stay Tech” take home best metal album of the year for their opus, ‘Bleed the Future’.

Canada’s equivalent to the Grammys, the Juno Awards took place over the week for their 2022 edition on May 15th in Toronto. Simu Liu of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, served as the show’s host, marking the first in-person Juno Awards presentation since 2019.

Among the names included in this year’s lot feature superstars like The Weeknd who earned ‘Songwriter of the Year’ and pop songstress Charlotte Cardin who nabbed four awards including single, album and artist of the year. However, the Juno Awards did include some of metal music’s most exciting new artists for this year’s ‘Metal / Hard Music Album of the Year’ category.

The artists competing for the hardware include Deathcore’s new wave in Brand of Sacrifice and their celebrated album, Lifeblood. Montreal’s melodic death metallers The Agonist, earned a nod acknowledging their opus in Days Before the World Wept. The hard rocking Danko Jones also score a vote, affirming the band’s Power Trio full length. Among the frontrunner for the title included Canadian juggernaut Spiritbox and their lauded 2021 debut, Eternal Blue.

It would be Vancouver tech-death outfit Archspire and their musical monstrosity, Bleed the Future that walked with the hardware, earning ‘Metal Album of the Year’. In the ‘Rock Album of the Year’ category, The Beaches bested artists like The Dirty Nil, Arkells,Black Pistol Fire and The Blue Stones by earning top honors for their Sisters not Twins (The Professional Lovers Album).
