Pushing a nostalgic brand of meaty shoegaze, the band offers a powerful preview of their forthcoming Run for Cover full length, ‘Moments of Clarity’.
Dallas outfit Narrow Head have delivered another preview of their pending third full length release, Moments of Clarity, due out February 10th via Run for Cover Records. The single “Gearhead” underscores the band’s emotive brand of hefty hardcore, stylized with spacey fits of shoegaze.
The band’s frontman in Jacob Duarte, also of Skourge and Sexpill, spoke about how definitive the most recent single from the band is for him. This is the type of song I’ve always wanted to write. A hardcore song with a catchy hook. If you ever wanted to describe our sound to someone; start with this song.”
Working with Sonny DiPerri (NIN, Protomartyr, My Bloody Valentine), who recorded, mixed, and produced the new full length, Narrow Head has leveled up as songwriters with what translates as their most personal effort to date. Offering stark contrast to the recklessness and rebellion of the band’s sophomore effort in 2020’s 12th House Rock, Moments Of Clarity sees Narrow Head at their most introspective – channeling their intensity into a 12-track personal purge.
Duarte further elaborates on the weight of the album and how the songs were written during a period of time where the songs functioned as necessary therapy for serious emotional trauma. “The phrase created a space for me to reflect upon my own life,” Duarte admits, “since our last record I’ve had plenty of moments of realization like that… when you experience friends dying, you’re forced to see life a little differently.”
Moments of Clarity lands on February 10th via Run For Cover Records on all physical formats and all digital streaming platforms. The album is available for pre-order – HERE
