The buzzworthy brutalizers are set to make their full length debut via Maggot Stomp with the arrival of The Nine Choirs on September 16th.
Joining a succession of modernized, albeit traditionally-versed extreme metal practitioners, Texas-bred Tribal Gaze are among the latest to emerge from The Lone Star State as heavy music’s next on deck. Earning the acclaim of genre OGs and promising prospects alike, the band have introduced their Maggot Stomp debut studio album The Nine Choirs with the reveal of the single, “And How They Wept for Eternity”.
Currently touring alongside fellow Texas terrorizers Creeping Death, the band have added to their momentum by pairing the release of the single with a ferocious new visual that premiered via Brooklyn Vegan. Directed by Derek Rathbun, the no-frills visual showcases the band front and center, emphasizing their collective ode to old school brutality executed with modern-era muscle.
The band’s guitarist Quintin Stauts detailed the style and substance at the root of the track, “In terms of writing, we wanted a song that was impossible not to headbang to and had tempo variety,” Stauts explains. “Along with the rest of the album, the song touches on the possibility of extraterrestrial anxieties – be it angels, demons, aliens, or otherwise – being on the same side and not being a friend of humanity. It’s ultimately humans failing an unimpressed higher power.”
The debut full length from Tribal Gaze was laid down just this spring 2022 via home studio recording sessions in Dallas and Longview, Texas with drums being tracked at The Bubble in Austin, TX. Mixed by Taylor Young at The Pit Recording Studio (Regional Justice Center, Drain, God’s Hate), mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (Obituary, Integrity, 200 Stab Wounds) the album is cosigned by a team of creative cohorts that all speak to the potential of the band given their impressive previous resumes.
