The band’s Sharptone Records’ debut drops February 26th.
Of Mice & Men are pressing forward towards their February 26th Sharptone Records debut with the release of their ‘Timeless’ EP.
The band made their grand introduction with the release of the lead single in “Obsolete” just last month, a gut-punch reminder of their dynamic songwriting and unrelenting heft.
The band’s frontman Aaron Pauley explained the evolution of the project and how the EP came to fruition. “We started writing this EP shortly before the initial lockdowns in spring of 2020, before we knew that our world was about to become a radically different place. A lot of these songs were born from a place of wondering how we’d fit into 2020 and beyond, both as adults in our 30s as well as a band that’s a decade into our existence.”
Ahead of the official release, Of Mice and Men are unleashing yet another offering from the EP, this time delivering the title track. “Timeless” again asserts a bold, emphatic, aggressive sound while addressing a bittersweet reality that everything, including ourselves, is finite.
“‘Timeless’ is a song about becoming increasingly aware of impermanence, written through somewhat of a somber, yet romantic, lens,” says singer/bassist Aaron Pauley. “At the beginning of the pandemic, I was watching a lot of black and white movies. One of my favorite movies is Casablanca. I wonder if any original copies exist. You know, although that movie is universally regarded as being timeless, the actual celluloid is so fragile. But I think we find a special kind of vibrance in life when we’re aware of our own impermanence.”
The profound fusion of introspection and catharsis is among the qualities that make OM&M such an exciting band. More than a decade deep and some six albums in, to be producing at this high a level asserts the band’s continued commitment to creative maturity, versatility, and evolution.
‘Timeless’ arrives on February 26th via Sharptone Records. Pre-orders are available – HERE.
