OPERATING HOURS: 11AM - 10PM
Flemington Racecourse is located 6km north-west of Melbourne CBD.
Large crowds and extremely heavy traffic are expected in and around Flemington on event day.
A large number of people are expected to be attending the event so it’s essential to plan your trip in advance and work out how you are getting to and from Knotfest Melbourne.
TRAINS:
Due to the high number of patrons expected at the Knotfest event, the internal Flemington Racecourse Station will be operational and extra trains will be running for both arrival and departure.
It is recommended that patrons with mobility requirements use the front carriage of each train to enable the driver to assist with ramps on arrival.
PLEASE NOTE that due to planned rail works at South Yarra Station, some train services will be replaced with buses between Burnley and Caulfield, Parliament and Sandringham, Southern Cross and East Pakenham, Heidelberg and Eltham, and Southern Cross and Bendigo/Swan Hill/Echuca. Please refer to the PTV website Knotfest Event page for details regarding event day services.
Trains to the event:
Trains will depart Flinders Street Station from Platform 7-9, stopping at Southern Cross Station (Platforms 13/14) and North Melbourne Station (Platforms 5/6) and then express to Flemington Racecourse.
No direct service to Flemington Railway Station will operate after 3:33pm as peak hour weekday services will kick in. Patrons wishing to travel via train to Flemington after this time will need to take the Craigieburn line and alight at New Market Station and either walk or take Tram #57 to Flemington Racecourse.
Train from the event:
Trains will depart Flemington Racecourse from 8:20-9:00pm every 20 minutes.
From 9:00pm-10:15pm, trains will depart every 15 minutes.
From 10:15-11:30pm, trains will depart Flemington Racecourse every 10 minutes.
The final service from Flemington Racecourse will depart at 11:30pm.
TRAMS:
Passengers can catch Route 57 West Maribyrnong tram from the corner of Elizabeth Street and Flinders Street in the Melbourne CBD to Flemington Racecourse (Stop 30).
Please note, low-floor trams do not run on Route 57 and therefore it is recommended that passengers using a mobility aid should make alternate plans to travel to the racecourse.
Additional tram services will operate to support the normal weekday timetable and additional trams will be scheduled to support patrons leaving the event.
Some tram services on route 96 may be disrupted, so please refer to the PTV website Knotfest Event page for details regarding event day services.
BUS:
Buses can be caught via Route 472 bus from Williamstown to Footscray or Moonee Ponds to Fisher Parade. From Fisher parade it is a long walk to the main entry gate on Epsom Road.
Buses can also be caught via Route 404 bus from Footscray or Moonee Ponds to Smithfield Road. From Smithfield Road it is a shorter walk to the main entry gate on Epsom Road.
No additional bus services will operate. All services will run per the normal weekly timetable.

RIDESHARE / TAXI / PUBLIC DROP OFF & PICK UP ZONES:
Due to the anticipated high number of rideshare/taxi/public drop off/pick ups, there will be a designated vehicle drop off/pick up zone located outside the event on Epsom Road between the main and members gates.
The designated vehicle drop off/pick up zone will be operational between the hours of 10:00am and 5:30pm on event day and will be unavailable post event due to the closure of Epsom Road from this time to coincide with the large number of patrons departing the venue on foot.
It is recommended passengers hoping to use rideshare for the way home either make their way to Racecourse Road to hail a rideshare vehicle or taxi or make alternate plans to travel home.
PARKING:
Patrons are discouraged from driving to the event and instead we encourage travel via public transport. Some patrons may wish to drive to the event, parking is limited.
Patrons can access the VRC VIP Carpark, Broadcast carpark & Leonard Crescent carpark via Leonard Crescent. The carpark’s will be staffed and operational between the hours of 9:00am-midnight.
Patrons can then make the short walk via the Hills Gate into Flemington Racecourse and towards the member carpark to Entry Gate 1.
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
By entering the event you acknowledge that you have read the following rules governing conduct and consent to abide by such regulations and conditions.
There are STRICTLY NO PASS OUTS (Exit and re-entry) for this event.
Knotfest Melbourne is a licensed all ages 15+ licenced event
Photo ID is required to purchase alcohol regardless of your age.
All 18+ patrons must have valid photo ID in the form of:
- Valid Australian Driver’s license or learner permit,
- Valid Passport or State/Territory proof of age cards
- Valid Keypass
All minors attending the event must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or responsible adult and each person attending must have their own valid ticket.
The definition of a responsible adult is:
A person who is of or over the age of 18 years and is:
- the minor's parent, step-parent, guardian, grandparent, or
- a person who is acting in place of a parent and who could reasonably be expected to exercise responsible supervision of the minor (eg. older siblings, parents who have their children’s friends with them, etc.).
Minors without a parent, guardian or responsible adult will be refused entry to the event.
It is illegal to provide minors with alcohol and anyone caught doing so may be prosecuted and ejected.
Any minor caught consuming alcohol will be handed to the Police.
Access to the event is prohibited or refused to people who:
- Are displaying COVID-19 like symptoms
- Are clearly under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any other stimulant.
- Illustrate behaviour that intends to disturb public peace or to provoke assault.
- Intentionally attempt to conceal prohibited items with the intent to bypass security screening.
- Are wearing gang related colours, Hi-vis clothing, or attempting to resemble any staff member; including unauthorised media vests, or uniforms that impersonate emergency service personnel.
- Are from unauthorised media outlets.
It is a condition of sale that you agree that the Event Organiser reserves the right to refuse a ticket holder admission to the event or to evict that person from the event for any reason whatsoever at the Event Organiser’s absolute discretion.
It is a condition of the liquor license that only valid ticket holders are allowed to enter the event and you may be prosecuted if you enter or attempt to enter without a valid ticket.
The event has the capacity to be very loud, have high intensity crowd movements, bands that may use profanities in their performance and patrons drinking alcohol.
Crowd surfing, moshing, slam or circle dancing are all dangerous activities that can lead to serious injuries to other patrons and will not be tolerated.
Except as provided by law, the Event Organiser and the owner and/or lessee of the venue shall not be held liable for any loss, injury or damages sustained entering or within the venue whether caused by the negligence of the Event Organiser or that owner or lessee or otherwise.
Ticket holders consent to filming and sound recording as members of the audience.
ENTRY IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

YOUTH TICKETS:
Youth ticket holders without a parent, legal guardian or responsible adult will be refused entry to the event.
Youth Patrons and 18+ patrons entering via the Youth Entry lanes will be required to have their identification checked, bags searched, tickets scanned and will be issued an appropriate wristband pending their age prior to entering the event site.
Youth ticket holders will be required to register their guardian’s details at the gate prior to entry.
The right to refuse entry to any person is at the sole discretion of the Event Organiser or any agent acting on behalf of the Event Organiser.
Once inside the event, all youth ticket holders must remain accompanied by a parent, legal guardian or responsible adult throughout the duration of the event.
TICKET SCANNING:
To ensure a smooth entry into the festival, please ensure you have your tickets ready to go and follow the three steps below.
- If you have purchased via Ticketek, you can access your tickets in the TICKETEK APP where you can present at the entry gate or share to your friends via their mobile number.
- DOWNLOAD your ticket and add it to your phone's wallet before you arrive and have the barcode ready for scanning at the gate, with your phone brightness turned up to allow scanners to pick it up easily. Please ensure your phone is charged.
- If you're coming in a group, please SHARE your tickets with your fellow attendees before you arrive.
We strongly recommend adding your ticket to your phone’s wallet prior to arrival to ensure no issues gaining entry on the day.
PATRON SAFETY:
A safe and enjoyable experience for all patrons is a priority for the Knotfest team.
A Patron Safety Chat is available in the Knotfest app to report any safety concerns or anti-social behaviour patrons may experience or witness throughout the event. Make sure you download the app before the event so you can easily make contact with the Knotfest team on the day.
A dedicated team will receive and respond to all messages in a timely manner and will provide any support required. Note that the chat service does NOT require network connection, so is the best way to get in touch with the Knotfest team.
ACCESSIBILITY:
Knotfest Melbourne is a dual stage live music festival.
There is a dedicated accessible entry lane into the event at the main entrance and dedicated lanes at all bars and official merch outlets.
Accessible toilets on site are outlined on the patron map.
There is no reserved or dedicated seating, however accessible patrons will have access to an accessible viewing platform in close proximity to the stage - Please refer to the patron map for location.
Companion Card ticket purchasers are entitled to an additional ticket for their respective carer, which is issued at the time of purchase. The Companion Card must be presented alongside the issued ticket to gain entry to the event.
Guide Dogs are permitted on festival grounds for valid Disability Card or Companion Card holders.
The event grounds are wheelchair accessible, however please be aware that this is a large outdoor event that may require traveling on varied terrain, both turf and concrete. The ground may become soft and muddy if it rains. Please take extra precaution if this is the case. Matting and signage will be positioned where possible.
A sensory space is available located adjacent to the primary medical post to help patrons recharge if they require an area to decompress.
Sunflower wristbands are available for patrons at the accessible entrance - these can be carried and/or worn for access to accessible amenities throughout the event.
Knotfest will have an Accessible Liaison available at the event all day to assist with any questions or issues.
ACCESSIBLE PARKING:
Accessible Parking will be available at the designated VRC VIP car park via Leonard Crescent upon presentation of an Accessible Parking Pass. Accessible Parking Passes need to be requested in advance no later than 7 days prior to the event. The pass will then be issued via email to “Print at Home”.
The car park will be operational from 9:00am until midnight.
Patrons can then make the short journey and enter via the Hills Gate through the dedicated accessible entry lanes.

REJECTION OF ENTRY OR EJECTION FROM EVENT
Security staff are entitled to search; pat down or metal detect any patron upon entry. Any person not compliant will be refused entry or removed from the event without refund.
Access to the event is prohibited or refused to people who:
- Are clearly under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any other stimulant.
- Illustrate behaviour that intends to disturb public peace or to provoke assault.
- Intentionally attempt to conceal prohibited items with the intent to bypass security screening.
- Are wearing gang related colours, Hi-vis clothing, or attempting to resemble any staff member; including unauthorised media vests, or uniforms that impersonate emergency service personnel.
- Are from unauthorised media outlets.
Only authorised and fully accredited media approved by the Marketing and Publicity department are permitted at the Knotfest event.
Any media or persons found to be carrying media equipment (microphones, recording devices, camera etc) or deliberately deceiving staff will be removed and banned from Knotfest events for an indefinite period.
If you are evicted from the event, you will not be allowed re-entry and your ticket will not be refunded.
PROHIBITED ITEMS:
Anything that could cause harm is a prohibited item and will not be permitted entry to the venue.
This includes but is not limited to:
- Portable seating of any kind
- Tables, eskies or coolers, umbrellas, tents or sun shelters
- Alcohol, illicit and synthetic drugs
- Prescription drugs that are not in original container and without the pharmacy stickers issued in the name of the ticket holder
- Glass and aluminum containers
- Liquids other than lotions (empty water bottles that are not glass or aluminium are permitted)
- Professional audio /visual recording devices (excluding mobile phones and go pros)
- Drones
- Culturally insensitive items and attire
- Anything studded (chokers, belts and wristbands)
- Flags and poles
- Promotional materials - stickers and flyers
- Air horns and megaphones
- Weapons or dangerous items including laser pointers or selfie sticks
- Flares and fireworks
- Bicycles, skateboards, surfboards, hoverboards, scooters or personalised motor vehicles.
- Animals (excluding authorised companion dogs)
No liquids are permitted on site for security reasons; there is free water available at all bars and at multiple points throughout the venue. Patrons are permitted to bring empty water bottles that are not glass or aluminum.
Additional items may be found prohibited at the discretion of event security guards or Victoria Police.
All items deemed prohibited excluding illegal substances must be cloaked externally at the cloakroom located alongside the entry. Knotfest will not take responsibility for cloaked items.
CLOAKING SERVICES:
There are charged cloaking services available at the event.
There are also charged locker services available at the event on a first come first serve basis.
Please ensure you keep your ID on you at all times for bar service.
MERCHANDISE:
Knotfest event and artist merchandise will be available for purchase at the event please refer to patron map for location.
RESPONSIBLE SERVICE OF ALCOHOL:
All licensing, RSA and any other matters relating to the service of alcohol are handled by
the licensee and bar operator – Mal Smith (Aust) Pty Ltd.
Knotfest Melbourne is a 15+ All ages licenced event. All patrons are to wristbanded to identify their age. All patrons entering the site must provide photo ID to secure an 18+ wristband. All person unable to provide ID will be provided with an underage wristband.
Easily distinguishable wristband types will be used to determine legal drinking age and differentiate between 18+ and Youth U18.
All Youth attending the event must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian or responsible adult at all times.
If a youth is to become separated from their parent, legal guardian or responsible adult within the site, RSA crowd controllers will escort the Youth to the Found Youth tent location, which is the primary medical post. Please refer to the Patron Map for the location.
The staff at the location will notify the responsible adult to collect the Youth and all staff will have current working with children accreditation.
Any variation to the above will cause the Youth to be handed to Police.
Any Youth caught consuming alcohol will be handed to the Police.
VICTORIA POLICE:
Police have the right to attend the Knotfest Melbourne event and have the right to question and eject patrons from the event, if they are suspected of possessing illegal substances, weapons or contraband.
Patrons should respect police and be compliant with their requests but should also be aware of their rights.
SAFETY & FIRST AID:
Knotfest does not condone possession or use of illegal drugs at the event.
There will be multiple first aid/medical posts throughout the venue.
Please consult the patron map for locations.
By entering the event and using the medical facilities, a patron consents to providing access to their medical information.
SPECIAL PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Knotfest Melbourne is committed to maintaining the safety and wellbeing of all persons on site and is aware that a proportion of the festival audience may have a requirement to bring prescribed medicines and or special foods onto site.
To gain entry to the event with special medical requirements, you must ensure the following:
- Ensure the medicine is in its original container, with the pharmacy sticker and issued in the name of the ticket holder i.e. DON’T peel the label off or carry someone else’s medication.
- Ensure the quantity carried is the minimum required for the duration of the event.
- DON’T bring non-essential tablets such as vitamin supplements or over the counter painkillers.
- Be prepared to be challenged at the gate or in the event but do not seek to conceal medication.
NOTE: Patrons without approved medicine in its original container, with the pharmacy sticker and issued in the name of the ticket holder will be unable to enter the event with the medicinal items.
LIABILITY
Knotfest and the VRC shall not be held liable for any loss, injury or damages sustained entering or within the premises.
Knotfest will not be held liable for any hearing damage or loss. Earplugs are available at the medical outlets.

Can a youth (U18 patron) attend Knotfest Melbourne unaccompanied?
No. All youth ticket holders attending the event must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian or responsible adult and each person attending must have their own valid ticket.

The definition of a responsible adult is:

How can I register my emergency contact information?
This can be done at the entry point at the Melbourne event. Just simply make your way to the dedicated Youth Entry lane and provide your emergency contact information which will be applied to the youth wristband.
My youth ticket emergency contact information has changed, is this a problem?
No, simply visit the dedicated Youth Entry lane and provide your emergency contact details and they will be applied to the youth wristband.
What do I need to provide at the youth entry lane?
The parent, legal guardian or responsible adult must be present with their accompanied youth where the ticket will be scanned, emergency contact information will be added to the wristband. The youth wristband will then be applied to the youth ticket holder. The parent, legal guardian or responsible adult must accompany the youth through the appropriate entry lane where the adult will be processed for entry.
Once inside the event, can a youth (u18) separate from their parent, legal guardian or
responsible adult?
No, all youth ticket holders attending the event must remain accompanied by their parent, guardian or responsible adult throughout the duration of the event.
What do I do, within the event site if I become separated from my parent, legal guardian or responsible adult?
Please consult RSA Crowd Controllers or event staff who will escort you to the Primary Medical post, which is also the Found Youth Meeting point. Trained staff at the location with “Working with Children Check” certification will reunite the youth with your parent, legal guardian or responsible adult.
